Game Introduction – Knights and Dragons: Rise of the Dark Prince

Knights and Dragons: Rise of the Dark Prince is a persistent city-building game developed by Gree. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to play your best game.

Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

  • To download the game, click the “Play Now” button at the top of this page.
  • Once downloaded, click the “play” button
  • That’s it! You’re ready to start the game!

Knights & Dragons: Rise of the Dark Prince

  • Level Bar: In the top left of the main screen, you’ll get a snapshot of where you are at with regards to your level. As you complete quests and fight monsters, you will gain experience that will make your knights more powerful in combat.
  • Health Bar: The health bar is right next to experience bar and will give you a snapshot of the health of your commander knight.  This bar will refill over time. As you can see, I have 72 of my 102 health points.  If I was to start a fight, my main knight would only have 72 health points left.  You might have to wait to fight depending on where your health is at.
  • Gold: Gold is the base currency of the game. It is earned through various buildings you construct—taverns, cathedrals, fountains, etc.  Gold is used to build new gold earning buildings, as well as a variety of other tasks in the world.
  • Gems: Gems are the premium currency.  These are earned by leveling up, through “chance chests”, and of course purchasing them in the game’s store in cold hard cash. Gems are used to buy premium buildings and speeding up your health regeneration or the time it takes to build something new in your castle.

  • Quest List: Completing quests is the most important aspect of the game.  The quests are a guide to building up your castle, opening up new areas of battle and so forth.  By hitting any of the quests, you can quickly see how close you are to completing it and more importantly, take you directly to the spot to complete the quest.  Viewing the quests is the best way to get through your quest log.

  • Battles: Starting a battle is simple.  There will always be a quest revolving around combat somewhere in your quest log—or you can swipe around the over world and select the location you would like to battle in.  Fighting is fairly straight-forward. All of the battles take place in a number of stages.  The first level of stages is the determined in the over world—they vary from “normal” to “epic”.  This just determines difficulty.  Then, when in the battle, you fight four stages of enemies culminating in a boss battle.

  • Battles Continued: Once started, the game is generally on auto-pilot.  There are, however, a few subtleties. As you can see in the above screenshot, your characters will be on the right while the enemies will be on the left.  You also have a special attack meter in the bottom right. As it fills, you can touch it to unleash a strong attack on your enemies.  You’ll earn special rewards for killing enemies with your special attack—items that are used in crafting new armor.

  • Elements: The final aspect of combat is elements.  You’ll want to keep the type of enemies that you will be fighting in mind with regards to the armor and knights that you use in each of the different areas.  Early on, however, you won’t have to worry about it too much.

  • Knights: As you progress through the different areas of the game, you will unlock new knights.  They will have different elemental powers and types of armor that they can wear.

  • Arena (PVP): Arena battles are where you can fight other players.  There really isn’t any disadvantage to fighting in the arena—if you lose, you still get some gold and points in the arena.  This is the game’s solution to giving players a reason to continue to play despite having to wait for your knights’ health to recharge or for a building to complete.  However, this also has some constraints—you have a set amount of “arena energy”—and once that’s out, you have to wait for more to recharged.  Alternatively, you can purchase arena energy in the game’s shop with cash.

  • Chance Chests: Every 24 hours you have the opportunity to choose from three chests which will hold some sort of item, gold or gems.

  • Combining and Enhancing Armor: This is one of the more important aspects of the game.  Getting new armor to make your knights more powerful makes fighting much easier.  You can grind your way through, of course, but by enhancing current armor (using your current set as the base and then putting sets you don’t use as the armor sets that enhance it) will make you harder to hit for your enemies and give you more time to complete battles.

A Few Tips:

  • Set Up Notifications: With any sort of city building games, if you want to progress and become more powerful, you’ve got to play.  By setting up notifications, you’ll know when buildings have been refilled and your knights are back at full health.  This will help you get leveled up quicker.
  • Don’t Worry About Staying Away, Though: Thankfully, however, this game does not punish you for staying away when it comes to gold.  It has a cap on how much gold can be collected on certain building types, but for the most part, you don’t have to be glued to the screen to do well.
  • Use Quest Log: Quest log will take you directly to your quest.  Even if you can’t find where it’s at, go into your quest log, select the task within the quest that you need to complete, and the game will do the rest for you.
