Quick Start Guide

Island God is a Facebook game developed by Digital Chocolate. Lead your own tribe and be an Island God. Choose your side, good or evil and let your tribe collect resources such as wood and stone, have them go on treasure quests or even worship to gain coins. Bless or punish different animals to help your tribesmen and pick up some lost items along the way. These are just a few of the things you can do to get started playing Island God by referring to this quick start guide.

Island Currencies

There are three types of currencies which you can use during the game. You can use them to purchase items within the market or the research hut. Resources are also needed for other items but we’ll focus on the currencies here.

Island God

Coins

These are used to purchase decorations, improvements and for some buildings. You gain coins by having a tribe member pray at a shrine. You are also rewarded coins when you build and care for improvement items, and do godly tasks. Picking up packages and visiting neighbors will also reward you with coins.

Crystals

These are used for purchasing special items within the market. You can also use them when you want to finish constructing buildings faster by purchasing items needed to complete it or do an “instant build”. Some expansions can also be bought with crystals. You can get crystals with real money.

Science Points

Use science points to get research tools, which are beneficial to certain tasks. You also need them to expand your island. Take note you can only use them if you’ve constructed a research hut. Gain more by having a tribe member research for you.

Collect Resources

To expand and improve your island, resources are needed. Here are some that you need to collect continuously.

Wood and Stone

These are the basic resources you need to collect to construct buildings.

Energy

You need energy to do godly tasks such as removing trees, picking up trash, defending your tribe and care for improvement items. You can even use them to smite your tribesmen to do your bidding.

Food

To replenish your energy, you need to collect food. This can be done by paying attention to your improvement items.

To start collecting wood and stone, build some wood cutters and stone quarries. You can then add a tribe member to work on collecting them. Once you’ve dragged them to any of these buildings you can choose how long you’d like them to work. The longer they work, the more you collect.

Island God

Once done, you will notice a bubble on top of their heads indicating that you’re ready to collect.

Island God

Can’t wait for them to finish? Use your godly powers, either by blessing or smiting them to finish their work instantly. Take note you will need certain energy points available to do this. Use your godly hand and hover over the working tribesman and it will tell you how many you need.

Island God

Here’s a tip: Choose shorter work times (not in minutes but shorter hours) based on your maximum energy level. You can then collect more in a shorter time by using your godly powers.

Morale o’ Meter: Evil or Good

Choose your side and decide whether you want to be a good or evil island god. Whatever you choose, each godly task you do will determine the number of morality points you’ll have. By clicking on the “manage tribe” icon, you’ll see a bar at the upper left corner. This is the Morale o’ Meter.

Island God

Whatever you side you choose, each task you do, either for good or evil, will move the arrow level to the blue or red side. This can be your gauge on how good or bad you are.

Notice the tasks you do and morality points will either be added or deducted. You chose evil? Then morality points decreases.

Island Creature Attack

At times while your tribe members are working hard and you’re using your godly powers, island creatures appear from nowhere, scaring your tribe. This affects them and will refuse to work.

Island God

Defend your tribe by blessing or smiting these creatures. This impacts your morality points. You’ll encounter a boar, wasps, a kracken and more as you progress through the game. The higher level you’re at, the creatures are stronger and will need more energy to defeat them.

Here’s a bonus: You see the shark swimming around your island? If you choose to be an evil god, then you can pick up a tribe member and feed them to the shark. Just drop them near the shark and it will do the rest. Your morality points will decrease more. Don’t worry. They will come back reincarnated in another body (can be male or female). Just remember to get them to work again, if they were at the time you sacrificed them to the shark.

Research Tools for Rewards

Inventing new technology is beneficial to any population. Progress is made by researching to get tools and give you an advantage in resource collection and rewards. Once you’ve built your research hut, you can now purchase these tools with science points and required items.

Island God

Hover your mouse on each tool to know the benefits. This can be useful in your overall strategy. As an example, researching the stone hammer will give a 3% advantage when you collect stones from your quarries. Gather the required items and science points.

You can gather items by adding them to your wish list. This can be shared and will be posted at your wall for friends to help you. You can also check your neighbor’s wish list by going to the “My Neighbor’s Tab” and scroll down through the list. Beside each name, you’ll see any items they need and the number you currently have. If you can spare some, then send them that gift.

Island God

You can also randomly find some of these items in packages floating around your island or your neighbor’s.

Island God

Visitation Benefits

Visiting your neighbors is always beneficial to any social game. You can help a neighbor 5 times. Here are the benefits you’ll receive.

Island God
  • Energy
  • Coins
  • Food
  • Required items for research tools
  • Experience Points when caring for improvement items

Here’s a tip: Look for floating packages first, if any, which will reward you double digit coins or a required item for research tools. You can move on to resource collection, if there are tribe members done with their tasks. This yields more experience points and coins. Next, you can care for improvement items such as flower beds, trees and the like to get coins and food points. Last priority is clicking on torches or campfires since they only give you experience points. Then again, you can use this knowledge to strategize and prioritize items which you need to level up.
