Game Introduction – Hunter Island

Hunter Island is a role-playing game created by ZigZaGames. You battle and capture monsters, then train them to fight other Hunters and do your bidding. Given time, persistence, and some quality monster-rearing, you can eventually raise an army of dedicated beasts. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to rear a stable of terrifying (and cute) monsters.

Getting Started

• You can download Hunter Island by using the “Available On” option at the top of this page.
• When you start the game for the first time, you’ll witness an egg hatching. You can choose what kind of Arkadion (monster) pops out of the egg. There’s no wrong answer, but each Arkadion has a different elemental strength that is relevant in battle.
• Once you have your new friend, you’re taught how to fight and capture wild Arkadions.
• When that’s done, you’re turned loose to collect, battle, and explore Hunter Island.

How to Play

• Objective – Hunter Island takes place in a faraway land populated by collectable monsters called Arkadions. Humans use Arkadions to fight battles – everything from personal disputes to all-out wars. Your character is a Hunter who’s been thrust in the midst of one such war, and you need to investigate why a previously-peaceful king has suddenly sent out his Arkadions to fight and kill on a massive scale.
• Silver and Gold – You can earn both silver and gold in-game in Hunter Island. Silver is plentiful, and is found in chests and after completing quests. Gold is much harder to come by, and can be used to buy valuable items in the game’s markets, including eggs containing powerful Arkadions. You occasionally earn gold for completing quests. Both silver and gold can be bought with real-world cash via an in-game transaction.
•  Main Menu and Options – Whenever you’re in a town or on the map screen, tap the bag icon on the lower right-hand side of the screen to open your game menu. Tap on the gears icon to open up the options menu and change your music and sound levels. You can also quit to the main menu from Hunter Island‘s game menu.
• Arkadion Menu – When you’re in town or on the map, press the Arkadion icon on the lower right-hand side of the screen to get a detailed analysis of the Arkadions in your line-up, and on your bench. Tapping an icon on the Arkadion’s profile gives you a description of what that icon means.

Arkadions 101

• Level Up – Arkadions earn experience when they participate in victorious battles. They level up and become stronger when they gain enough experience.
• Catch ’em All – You can catch wild Arkadions you meet on the field and in caves. Tap on the card icon next to a wild Arkadion’s name to capture it. The more damaged the Arkadion is in battle, the likelier it can be caught for a small sum of silver. Pay attention to the percentages you’re given when you try and capture an Arkadion. Also, you can instantly capture an Arkadion if you spend gold.
• Elements – Every Arkadion belongs to an element. Elements can give your monster an advantage – or disadvantage – in battle. Fire Arkadions are weak against water Arkadions. Water is weak against wind. Wind is weak against earth. Fire is strong against earth. Shadow is weak against holy.
• Lineup – Up to three Arkadions can fight for you at one time. All others remain in the lineup. If an Arkadion on the front lines falls in battle, the next Arkadion in the lineup moves forward. The number of Arkadions you can take into battle increases when you buy more powerful ocarinas from the market.
• The Bench – Open the Arkadion menu to access your bench as well as your lineup. Arkadions stuck on your bench will never enter battle, so keep that in mind when you build your lineup.
• Change Them Out – Arkadions only gain experience if they fight. Even if you have your favorites, switch them out once in a while!

The Map Screen

• Moving Around – You can move around the map screen by tapping the yellow markers scattered across the scenery.
• Wild Battles – As you move around, you’ll be pulled into random battles with wild Arkadions. If you’ve taken up a quest, many of the related battles will be random, too. Arkadions in caves are in pre-determined locations. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

Attack!

• Executing Strikes – Most of the attacks in Hunter Island are executed by swiping in a certain direction. Alternatively, you can tap the name of the attack listed below your Arkadion, and then tap the enemy you want to wallop.
• Experience and Evolution – When your Arkadion gains enough experience in battle, it’ll level up. Over time, it may evolve into a new form with more powerful attacks. Check your Arkadion menu to see which Arkadions are capable of evolving, and how far they have to go until the process is complete.
• Speed and Power – Executing an attack requires “Time Units (TU).” Stronger attacks require more TU, which means your Arkadion will have to wait longer for its next turn.
• Grades – Every Arkadion has a grade. The higher the grade, the more likely it’ll be able to attack more than once in a single turn.

Go to Town

• Quests – Most towns offer quests that can be completed in the vicinity. They’re a good way to earn experience, silver, gold, and eggs.
• Markets – Go to the market to buy Arkadion eggs, recipes, and ocarinas that lengthen your Arkadion lineup and give you stat boosts.
• Taverns – Taverns are full of gossiping patrons. Visit them to see what’s new in the world.
• Teleportation – Most towns have a teleportation pod that lets you return to any previously-visited town in a flash.
• Hunter Rank – Your Hunter rank determines what kind of quests you can undertake. The higher your rank, the harder the quests – and the greater your rewards. Going up in rank requires you to participate in difficult fights that test your ability.

Wi-Fi Battles

• Fight Online – Once you reach a certain level, and once you own enough Arkadions, you can participate in online battles against other players. Tap the Wi-Fi icon on the lower left-hand side of the screen. You can’t miss it.
• Online Missions – Online missions are also accessible via the Wi-Fi icon. These in-game quests offer big rewards, and require tickets to participate in. Tickets can be bought at most markets.

Tips

• Go Home – Your Arkadions are automatically healed when you visit a town. If you want to teleport instantly to the last town you visited, press the village-shaped icon located above the Wi-Fi icon.
• Move Quickly Around Caves – Once you’ve cleared an area of a cave, you can cross walls by tapping where you want to go. You won’t be able to do this if there are still enemies nearby, however.
• Do as Many Quests as Possible – Outside of in-app purchases, quests are the number one way to get money and valuable items. They’re also a great way to build up your Arkadions’ experience. Complete as many as possible.
• Fight in the Arena! – Most towns have an arena that lets you fight against non-player characters and their Arkadions. You can win great prizes if you fight, so go for it. You can only enter once every twelve hours.
• Explore Caves Thoroughly – Caves contain tons of cash, so search every nook when you enter. Moreover, you’re often challenged to capture certain monsters whenever you visit a cave. Nab them all for great rewards.
• Seek Out Recipes – Recipes let you combine two Arkadions into a stronger beast. Recipes are usually awarded when you complete quests, but you can also buy them in the market for gold.
• Can’t Grow if You Don’t Fight – Your Arkadions won’t grow if they don’t fight, even if they’re in your lineup. Switch them out every so often to raise a lot of strong monsters.
• Kill Your Darlings – When you hatch a new egg, you’re given the option to keep it or feed the hatchling to one of your Arkadions. Once you lay eyes on a new Arkadion, it’s automatically entered into your encyclopedia. In other words, if you’re not going to fight with your new Arkadion, maybe one of your veterans would appreciate a status-boosting snack.
• Get Free Stuff – When you’re in town, visit buildings marked by a pair of scales. You may be entitled to collect freebies, including rare Arkadions.
