Regular buildings are great in Bit City, but sometimes you just want to drop something a little more recognizable in your city and let it stay there.
Special Buildings are what you seek. These structures provide earnings boosts over their regular counterparts, and they’re automatically flagged as historical so you don’t have to worry about accidentally wiping them out while you’re furiously mashing away on the ‘Build’ button.
You’ve probably also noticed if you’ve been playing Bit City for a while that Special Buildings don’t grow on trees. Or rather, they don’t pop up as you cycle through buildings during normal gameplay.
That’s because they need to be unlocked first. Simply hit the Menu button (the icon in the lower-right that looks like an old school telephone dial, and yes, we’re dating ourselves by using that reference), then tap the Special Buildings button from the menu. Here you’ll be able to scroll through all the Special Buildings in the game, see what they look like, what bonuses they give and how much they cost. That last part is important because you’ll need to save up the proper amount of Bux to unlock any Special Building. Once you do, it will always have a chance of showing up in the normal building rotation on the right size lot.
And you know us here at Gamezebo: we’re not about to make you scroll through all the Special Buildings when we can list them all out for you to help you plan ahead. Keeping in mind that NimbleBit can and almost certainly will add more Special Buildings to Bit City as it goes, here’s what you need to unlock all of them in the game at launch, along with their bonuses.
Also, a quick word on those super expensive Special Buildings: Bit City does put them on sale from time to time. It’s worth flipping through the selection to see what’s on sale, as that might guide you on how to most efficiently spend your Bux.
