Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector is an adorable game about cat-watching. By setting out toys and food, you can attract some very fine-looking felines. Once they’re in your yard, you can take their picture and place it in your “cat book.”
It’s like bird-watching. But with cats.
While most of your visitors are normal cats (if any cat can be considered normal), some rare “themed” kitties may visit your yard, too. These visitors are primarily attracted via very specific items.
While some item / cat pairings are probably obvious, there are definitely some more obscure team-ups. So here’s a complete list of items that attract rare cats in Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector.
First, a word about food: High-quality food stands a much better chance of attracting rare cats than Thrifty Bitz or Frisky Bitz. Food bought with gold fish — particularly sashimi, Bonito Bitz, and Deluxe Tuna Bits — is much likelier to bring all the rare cats to your yard.
In fact, some of the more extravagant cats, like Kathmandu and Lady Meow Meow, won’t show their faces at all if you decide to go cheap.

How to attract Joe DiMeowgio: Set out a baseball item for this tiny Hanshin Tiger.
How to attract Senor Don Gato: This gallant cat loves the Mister Mouse item.
How to attract Xerxes XI: Only the fancy Zanzibar Cushion is good enough for this royal Persian. If you’re having trouble getting him to visit, you may need to set out fancy food.

How to attract St Purrtrick: The ethereal St Purrtrick will visit if you have the Silk Crepe Pillow present.

How to attract Tubbs: Tubbs may well be the first rare cat you see. If you set out any food better than Thrifty Bitz, he’ll inevitably wander in and eat everything. If you let him sit around for a while after he eats, he’ll reward your patience and generosity with a lot of fish. Tubbs may also show up if you set out the Giant Cushion item.
