While both Grow A Garden and Grow A Garden 2 might look like peaceful planting games on the surface, play for a while and you’ll soon realize that it’s all about profit. You want money for pets, seeds, evil garden gnomes, and building elaborate platformer segments over your garden. The normal stuff. The tricky part is how to get it. Well, turns out it’s way easier than you might assume, so we’ve put together this guide on how to get rich in Grow A Garden 2. Soon you’ll be able to buy all the unicorns and bear traps you want.

How To Get Rich In Grow A Garden 2 (It’s Simpler Than You Think)

Before you say ‘stealing’, no that’s not the strat, here. This guide covers the best methods for growing crops, not taking other players’ crops.

The Best Plants To Use

Now you can be forgiven for thinking that this is the hardest part of the process. Certainly when we started playing and testing the game, we were pretty sure answering this would involve buying up endgame crops from the shop or waiting for very limited seeds like GaG 1’a candy blossom. No, the best and most reliable way to make money in Grow A Garden 2 right now is Bamboo. Yes, the 700c a time plant from the seed shop.

How do we reason this?  I’ll explain.

There are several factors which make Bamboo an amazing pick to increase your sheckle balance.

  • Availability. You can buy about 7-10 Bamboo seeds every 5 minutes with a Seed Shop refresh. Occasionally you’ll find none in stock, but that’s fairly unusual. This all means you can build up a huge collection of seeds in a short period of time. The main reason we’d rate Bamboo over Mushrooms, which are a bit more valuable, is that Bamboo Seeds are nearly always available to buy for a very small investment.
  • Quick Growth. Bamboo takes around 35 seconds from planting to full speed, 25 seconds if you have an active deer in your garden, which is reduced even further to 12 seconds if it’s raining. That is to say, it takes very little time to turn those seeds into cash.
  • Mutations. Mutations are a real money-maker. If you have a crop of bamboo sitting out, acquiring some high-value mutations like Starstruck (from the Starfall event) or Bloodlit (from the Blood Moon event) can massively boost its value. A 4kg Bloodlit Bamboo can sell for 8000c.
  • Not a huge theft target. With the new stealing mechanics, anything that looks flashy is liable to attract thieves at night. However, if your main strategy for making money is just lots and lots of Bamboo plants, a thief can’t scamper off with anything that will cost you a massive investment. (Again, mushrooms are a bigger loss here, as they cost more to buy.)
  • Decay a non-issue. The secret to success with Bamboo is to plant it quickly, and harvest it quickly. If you’re doing that, you should never run into any issues with crop decay.
  • Kind of useful. Bamboo is also handy to have around the garden, as you can climb it easily. Not a huge deal, but planting a few at a time next to other, taller crops can give you an easy way up to harvest.

Other Things To Increase Your Efficiency

Along with the money0making plant types, there are a few other things you can do too.

  • The Deer. The Deer pet is a Rare pet that spawns occasionally. You can pick it up for a modest 50,000c, (which you can make up for in about 10 minutes of Bamboo grind) and it can come in very handy if you’re looking to make fast money in Bamboo farming. an active Deer in the garden knocks 10% off a plant’s growth time, meaning you can get money even faster. Just keep in mind it won’t make the shop refresh any faster, so you will still be bottlenecked by the restock r
  • The Dragonfly/The Unicorn. Placing these under the same category as they are similar. Both increase the likelihood of natural Gold and Rainbow mutations, respectively. This does improve the efficiency of your little Bamboo Farm, though they are both a hefty investment, so we wouldn’t prioritize them straight away.
  • Gnome. You can skip this is you’re staying in a private server. While theft isn’t as much of a risk with Bamboo, once you have cash to spare, you might as well take a few steps to protect your garden. The Gnome should help defend your Bamboo if you step out at night.

Is It Worth Buying Other Crops?

While Bamboo is very efficient, we wouldn’t suggest doing a monocrop with your garden. The speed of the growth and the speed of the Seed Shop’s restock means you will be waiting for a few minutes between restocks, which is a good time to harvest renewable plants. They also make your garden look nice, for what it’s worth. Bigger flashier crops, especially multi-harvest plants, are good background income that takes less work than constantly planting and harvesting Bamboo, so they definitely have their place in the garden, too.
