Since the release, I’ve entered my fair share of public servers teeming with players much richer than I. Those with golden crops, rainbow crops, and… Pastel crops? I know about the Gold Seeds and Rainbow Seeds, but the pastel gardens elude me, which is why I’ve hunted around for the answer to how to get Pastel Crops in Grow a Garden 2.

If you’re curious or simply unfamiliar with this lesser-known seed type, stick around to learn everything you need to know in my player-made guide.

Let’s get into it!

How To Get Pastel Crops in Grow a Garden 2

Pastel crops are actually decayed crops.

This totally shocked me as I’d seen entire gardens brimming with pastel crops. I assumed they were cosmetic and a chance thing, rather than the wilted corpse of once bountiful plants.

To those reading this who tricked me into thinking GaG2 had cute pastel crop varieties… Take better care of your garden!

How Does Decay Work?

Over time, your plants will decay, which you can reverse by using a watering can on them, bought from the Gear shop for 2,000$ sheckles. These decayed plants take on a less saturated colour scheme than their more vibrant and lively counterparts, indicating a loss of value and wilting.

Whether you let your crops decay or not depends on how well you treat your garden. If you’re rich enough not to care about full values, then you could let your plants decay to get that nice pastel look.

Are Pastel (Decayed) Crops More Valuable?

Unfortunately, sowing a seed that decays isn’t going to reshape your economy anytime soon. Decayed crops actually reduce your crop value by 80%, with all new fruit growths retaining only 20% of their total value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which crops can be pastel?

All of them! Every single crop in the game will wilt over time via RNG. Some will decay on the same day as they’re planted, whilst others take real-world days to decay. It’s most common to see replantable harvest crops become decayed, as, unlike one-time harvest plants, these stay rooted permanently, giving them more time to decay.

If pastel crops aren’t a thing, what crop variants are in the game?

I briefly mentioned them in my intro, but you can get Gold and Rainbow Seeds. These are event-exclusive and typically happen during the night cycle. During the respective events, seeds will rain from the sky, which players will go and collect. Whilst your garden is unoccupied, you could get raided, or worse, whacked with the shovel so that you can’t collect the seed. If you succeed, planting it will grow into a random seed that is either all gold or all rainbow, depending on the seed type.

Additionally, gold/rainbow seeds have a higher chance to spawn a base Gold or base Rainbow crop.
