How To Get Gold Seeds In Grow A Garden 2
Join the gold rush.

Grow A Garden 2 has a bunch of features from the original back… but a little different than they were. One of these is the Gold mutation, and gold seeds. They’re kind of a big deal, but you need to know the new process for finding them. That’s why we’ve hopped on over the weekend to make this guide on how to get Gold Seeds in Grow A Garden 2, so you can kick off the sequel with a more profitable garden.
How To Get Gold Seeds In Grow A Garden 2
Okay, onto the important bits.
How To Get Gold Seeds

Unlike in the original Grow A Garden, you don’t buy Gold Seeds. Instead, you collect them… if no-one else collects them first. Gold Seeds fall to earth in something known as the Midas event, a special weather-type event that tends to happen at night. It’s hard to miss it when it does happen. You’ll see the moon turn gold, with huge, shining rings surrounding it. You’ll also see golden shooting starts raining down from the sky. These are the Golden Seeds falling to earth.
When one lands, you should see a message pop up notifying you of this. When it appears, it means a Gold Seed has spawned somewhere on the field. To pick it up, you’ll need to find it, walk up to it, and hold down the Interact command long enough for the little spinny progress marker to fill up. Once it has, it’s yours… though that’s easier said than done.
Give how sought-after Gold Seeds are, if you’re in a public server (or in a private with other people) you’ll probably have some competition to be the first one to grab the seed, so don’t waste any time if you see it.
What’s The Deal With Gold Seeds Anyway?
Wondering why these gold seeds are a big deal? Okay, let us explain. Gold Seeds are worth chasing after, because once you plant them in your garden they’ll grow into gold plants. These plants look like shiny yellow versions of existing species.
Aside from being a way to flex on your neighbours, the gold plants also have a much higher chance of producing fruits with the Gold mutation, which sell for an impressive six times the price of their ordinary variant. This means the gold plants are a great regular source of extra cash, and a gold version of a plant is always going to be a better use of your space than a normal version. Hence, if you want to get rich as soon as possible, you need to grab Gold Seeds when you can.
Other Important Things To Remember
Here are a few other things to keep in mind when you’re Gold Seed hunting.
- Watch out for thieves. Midas Events appears to be a night time thing, and player thieves can sneak into your garden after dark to pilfer your crops. Keep this in mind when you’re chasing after Gold Seeds that other players might have their sights on your valuable fruit while your garden is unguarded.
- The plant you get is random. There’s no knowing what kind of plant you’ll get from a Gold Seed when you pick it up. We haven’t gotten any non-renewable species though it yet, but some will be rarer and pricier than others.
- Watch out for thieves…. again. Your gold plants will be pretty visible once they’re grown. Make sure you guard them carefully at night, as other players with crop stealing ambitions might mark them as a target and make off with your golden fruit.
