As we wait on the new update, Type Soul seems to be all about the grind right now. One grind in particular. If you’re not sure how to get Dawn in Type Soul, or if you even want it, let us enlighten you. Get it? Because it’s called Dawn? Okay, I’ll shut up now.

How To Get Dawn In Type Soul

Alright, let’s get to the actual info.

What Is Dawn?

Dawn is a Type Soul melee weapon, exclusive to Arrancar. It resembles a longsword with a white blade, the tip spotted with dots of black. The hilt appears to be wrapped in bandages. As a sword, it is not a hakuda-friendly bit of weaponry. It’s a decent piece of kit if used correctly. Dawn enjoys quick regular (M1) attacks that enjoy the reach of the sword’s blade, though despite the size it remains a very fast weapon in terms of its default combo. The heavy/crit attack can hit hard, and you can chain it together into a crit combo, with a follow-up attack that can finish up or chain into a brutal set of attacks. This does come with a caution though. The heavy animation windup is, while impressive, kind of long, and you can’t cancel out. So, unless you are certain you’ll land the attack it’s a bad idea to deploy it. Use sparingly to succeed.

How To Get Dawn

Okay, some good news and some bad news. The good news is I found out how to get Dawn. The bad news? It’s a drop from Ikomikidomoe with a tiny 0.5 percent chance on every win. Who is Ikomikidomoe you might ask? If you don’t know, I envy you. Ikomikidomoe is the newest boss in Type Soul, a scaly behemoth that spawns in Hueco Mundo and takes more or less a whole server focusing their damage on him to take him down. If the players can defeat this death world kaiju within 30 minutes, and if you’ve inflicted enough damage to count, you can pick up a bunch of rewards.

One of these is Dawn. Of course, there’s only a 1 in 200 chance that it will be Dawn. So, be ready to fight Ikomikidomoe a LOT. To make it worse, Ikomikidomoe spawns once every three hours. Let’s just say, if you want to earn this weapon, you need to REALLY want it.

Tips To Help Get Dawn

There’s nothing I can tell you that’s going to make it easy to acquire Dawn exactly, but there are one or two ways to make it a little less punishing.

  • Check server up times. Ikomikidomoe’s spawn is determined by server time, rather than clock time. If you hop into a server and it’s approaching 3 hours, then stick around Hueco Mundo to wait.
  • Look for other players who also want it. Team up with other players farming Ikomikidomoe. You can check through servers faster, and deal more consistent damage. Loot is awarded individually, so you’re not competing over the Dawn drop. You might as well work together.
  • Check the Discord. The official Type Soul Discord has its own Ikomikidomoe Farming channel, where players will post server names where the boss is active, so you can go straight there.
