Despite being a prop like other cosmetics, you won’t find your Fence Skins when equipping the build hammer. To cut the confusion, I’ve created this player-made guide on how to get and equip Fence Skins in Grow a Garden 2, including a complete Fence Skin index, roll chance, and everything else you should know.

Let’s get into it!

How To Get and Equip Fence Skins in Grow a Garden 2

Obtaining Fence Skins

Fences are an RNG-based reward from the Fence Crate, bought from the Props merchant in the central plaza for 7M Sheckles. The crate itself is Legendary rarity, meaning it’s not often restocked, and typically appears in low quantity when it is.

Upon opening, you’ll roll for a random Fence from the index, with higher percentile Fences having a higher pull rate.

Equipping Fence Skins

Unlike other props that you build onto your garden using the Build Hammer, Fence Skins are equipped by interacting with your player signpost at the front of your garden.

By holding E on the [Player’s] Garden sign, you’ll open the menu with the Fences you’ve collected so far. The list shows them all, but desaturated if you don’t own them.

Do Fence Skins Protect Your Garden?

Nope. They’re purely cosmetic, much like most of the other props bought from the corresponding NPC. Fences are too short to be a real preventative measure, though those with lights, such as Light, Lantern, and Star, may help illuminate your garden more at night to spot potential intruders.

If anything, affording and equipping fences piques the interest of thieves, who know you’re rich enough to buy the fence crate, so you may find that you have more visitors if you have a fence skin.

If you do want to learn about staying safe during the thieving hours, I made a guide on how to protect your garden in Grow a Garden 2.

Can I mix and match Fences on each side?

No. You may only equip one Fence at a time, which envelops the entire garden, replacing the default. There also aren’t any plans to introduce this feature by the looks of things.

Which is the best Fence?

There isn’t a best fence, as they’re cosmetic and down to taste, but the rarest is undoubtedly the Rainbow, with a slim 0.86% roll chance. That said, on a personal note, I hardly think this Fence is the nicest. I quite like the Light and White fences and hope to roll them. Wish me luck!
