If you’re hankering to get back to doomscrolling on your in-game phone, I’ve got the guide for you! After playing several campaigns of my own solo and with others, I’ve figured out how to Earn Diamonds in Drain the Lake in the most efficient ways.

So, let me share my wisdom with you in this 100% AI-Free player-made guide. Woohoo!

How to Earn Diamonds in Drain the Lake

Chests

As you drain the lake, you’ll uncover hidden Chests with Diamonds inside. Pretty simple and an effective way to earn Diamonds incrementally as progression rewards. Plus, if you play with others, each person can open the chest, so it isn’t a one-time use (per group, it is one-time-open per person). This also means that working together could uncover chests quicker, giving you faster access to more Diamonds.

Put a pin in this as I explain more about Chests in the Computer Upgrades section below.

Computer Upgrades

Once you’ve completed the Richer Gems Upgrades and bought Jackpot (200 Tokens), you unlock the Diamonds Upgrades.

  • Diamond Polish I
    • 6 Tokens: +5% Diamonds when collected
  • Diamond Polish II
    • 12 Tokens: +5% Diamonds when collected
  • Diamond Cut I
    • 22 Tokens: +10% Diamonds when collected
  • Diamond Cut II
    • 40 Tokens: +10% Diamonds when collected
  • Diamond Brilliance I
    • 65 Tokens: +15% Diamonds when collected
  • Diamond Brilliance II
    • 100 Tokens: +15% Diamonds when collected
  • Diamond Panner
    • 200 Tokens: Chance to find Diamonds in your Bucket pours.

To combine what you now know about Chests and Computer Upgrades, you could do an entire game tailored to Diamond farming. To do this, focus all your upgrades in the first menu to unlock the Diamond route. After this, upgrade it to maximum and then backtrack to your previous checkpoints and collect all unopened chests. You may have to parkour to make it all the way back, so be prepared for that.

This will give you more Diamonds per chest opening than if you were to invest in other upgrades first and complete the Diamonds last. I tried this in a single-player game and managed to get the full upgrade before reaching the second checkpoint. (two chests worth of bonus Diamonds)

Badges

As you complete challenges in-game, you’ll unlock Badges. These one-time-claim rewards give you Diamonds as congratulations. Pretty simple, and you get a cool Badge to display on your profile!

UPD Logs

In the lobby, select the UPD LOG button from the top right and collect any rewards. The DEVs use this as a supplementary Codes menu, giving each player commemorative freebies per content update. From here, you can earn Spins, which have a high change of giving you additional Diamonds.

Buckets

The Golden Bucket (2,000 Diamonds from the Bucket Shop) has a +15% Token Earnings buff and a chance to uncover Diamonds when pouring. However, it’s currently the most expensive Bucket to buy, meaning the Diamond bonus is pretty insufficient, as you likely won’t need many Diamonds after buying the most expensive available.

As the game adds new content and pricier buckets, this one will come in handy for Diamonds farming, but for now, I don’t actually recommend investing in it.

What Do Diamonds Do?

Diamonds are an in-game currency, primarily used to buy new Buckets. Buckets apply permanent buffs, allowing you to begin each new campaign with a head start and more efficient drainage and money making. They’re a decent wealth to have, especially as the game updates and introduces new wares to buy with Diamonds.
