Game Introduction – Heroes of Dragon Age

Heroes of Dragon Age is a collectable card game created by EA. Using collectable heroes and fighters, players take on enemies as they work through the untold history of the Dragon Age series. There is also an option to battle directly with other players at your skill level. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to raise an historic army.

Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

Heroes of Dragon Age

  • Heroes of Dragon Age is free to play. You can download the game by using the “Available On” option at the top of this page.
  • When you start up the game for the first time, you’ll be asked if you want to receive push notifications. You can change this setting at any time.
  • Heroes of Dragon Age begins with a lengthy but important tutorial that explains the game’s basic commands and controls.
  • When the tutorial is done, you can start battling through the history of Thedas.

How to Play

Heroes of Dragon Age

  • Objective Heroes of Dragon Age lets users play through many battles and instances from Dragon Age‘s history. Your fighters are cards/figurines that automatically launch into battle once you’ve set them in place. You can work through the campaign, which gradually unfurls the game’s story, or you can battle against other players in PvP matches.
  • Campaign Map Screen – When you’re in the Heroes overview, access the “Quest” icon on the bottom right-hand side of the screen to jump to the campaign map at any time. Swipe left and right to navigate the available levels, and use the “Maps” icon on the bottom left-hand side of the screen to access the game’s various maps / levels.
  • Options – In the Heroes overview (tap the helmet-shaped icon on the upper left-hand side of the screen to access it at any time), tap the gear-shaped icon to open your options menu. From here, you can adjust the game’s settings, view an FAQ, and look at your achievements.
  • Hero Menus and Abilities – Tap the “Heroes” icon in the Heroes overview menu to get a better look at each of your fighters. Tap each portrait to see the heroes’ stats, and what moves they’re capable of unleashing on the bad guys. You can also manage your ranks and formation here. Simply slide a hero’s portrait onto the battle screen in order to make them active.

Summon Heroes

Heroes of Dragon Age

  • Go to the Store – You need heroes to get through Heroes of Dragon Age. Summon them by visiting the store. The store icon is accessible through the Heroes overview. It’s on the lower left-hand side of the screen. Four regular heroes can occupy the battlefield at one time, plus one large fighter.
  • Drop the Base – The color of your hero’s base determines how rare they are. Gold is rare; silver is uncommon; and bronze is common. Generally, the rarer your warrior is, the stronger they’ll be.
  • Factions – Heroes have a secondary color on their bases. If all four warriors’ secondary colors match, they get a damage bonus. These “factions” also have weaknesses and strengths. Red is strong against blue, blue is strong against black, black is strong against white, and white is strong against red.
  • Rarity – Every warrior pack potentially contains rare fighters regardless of how much you spend, but the more costly packs give you a far better chance of scoring a rare find.
  • Big Guys – On occasion you may summon a large warrior. These big fellows occupy their own separate, fifth slot on the battlefield. They move slowly, but pack a wallop when they attack.

Fight it Out

Heroes of Dragon Age

  • Hands Off – Fights in Heroes of Dragon Age carry out automatically once you engage the enemy. You can’t have any input when the action starts.
  • Stamina – Every battle you fight costs a unit of stamina. When stamina runs out, you must wait for it to refill before you can fight again. Alternatively, you can use gems to refill your meter immediately.
  • Runes – When you summon a hero, you may also summon a rune. Runes can be applied to give your party different advantages in battle, like additional damage or a burst of speed. The effects of runes are temporary. Runes are also expendable; once they’re used, they’re gone for good.
  • Initiative – Initiative determines how quickly heroes and enemies attack. Quick fighters, marked with a green icon, tend to attack first and often. Slower fighters are marked with yellow and red icons. Their attacks take a while to execute, but are often powerful.
  • Front Row – Heroes in the front row get a health bonus. They’re also attacked more often than heroes in the back row.
  • Back Row – Heroes in the back row do extra damage to enemies.

Gaining Strength

Heroes of Dragon Age

  • Level Up – Your heroes gain strength and level up as they fight in battles. Levelling up improves their base stats.
  • Consume – Additionally, you can level up your heroes by “consuming” warriors you don’t use anymore. Consumption transfers experience points. If you consume five warriors, the recipient’s chances of doing double damage in battle increases.
  • Combine – You can combine similar heroes to make a new hero with increased experience and status potential. Combine two identical heroes to grant the new warrior a 10% experience bonus.

Spoils of War

Heroes of Dragon Age

  • Coins – Coins are the most commonly-seen currency in Heroes of Dragon Age. You win them after most battles. They can be used to buy low-level Recruit Packs and higher-level Warrior Packs.
  • Gems – Gems are Heroes of Dragon Age‘s hard currency. They’re rarer than coins, but can be awarded if you complete a level several times. Gems are used to buy Champion Packs and can refill stamina instantly. You can buy gems with real-world cash.

PVP

Heroes of Dragon Age

  • Separate Stamina Heroes of Dragon Age‘s multiplayer mode (Battle / Player vs. Player) utilizes a stamina bar that’s separate from the campaign’s stamina bar. Again, each fight depletes a single unit of stamina, which refills after a certain amount of time, or with the assistance of gems.
  • Trophies – If you’re successful against opponents, you’re awarded trophies that determine your place on the game’s leaderboards.
  • Coins – Victory in Battle mode also nets you coins.

Tips

Heroes of Dragon Age

  • Master it All – Once you finish a campaign level, you can “master” it by engaging the level again and going up against harder enemies. This is a good way to grind for coins and gems, and get deeper into the game’s story.
  • Work Your Food – Planning to feed a warrior to a better fighter? Level up the weaker warrior first for a larger experience boost.
  • Eat it Rare – The rarer your warrior is, the more experience it’ll supply if it’s fed to another.
  • Grab a Freebie – If you’re an early adopter, check the Heroes of Dragon Age store for a free rare card summon.
