Game Introduction – GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience

GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience is a free-to-play racing game created by Gameloft. You’ll purchase cars, race them against other players, and compete in an extensive campaign mode. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to play your best game.

Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

  • GT Racing 2 is free to play and can be downloaded by using the “Available On” option at the top of this page.
  • When you first open the game, you’ll be asked if you would like to enable push notifications. You will not be able to change this option later.
  • Once you make your choice, you’ll go through a brief tutorial that helps you purchase your first car, make some upgrades, and enter a race.

Speeding down the highway

  • There are numerous control schemes available. The default one works fine, though you may be more comfortable or familiar with another. If in doubt, stick with the default.
  • Right when the race begins, there will be a popup in the corner that notifies you of steering and braking assists. Having each of these options on is highly recommended for new racers, though they restrict some of the freedom and creativity that can stem from manual steering and breaking. Even with the assists on, the burden is still on you to drive well. Crashing and driving off-road are still possibilities.

  • There’s a green guideline that shows the optimal road positioning. Typically, following this line will provide the best results, especially when dealing with sharp or frequent turns.
GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience
  • There are a handful of various race types. “Classic Race” has the standard goal of being the first to complete a set number of laps.
GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience
  • “Knockout” races will gradually eliminate the racer who is in last place until there is only one remaining. Typically, you’ll want to treat this type like a classic race, as only first place matters at the end.

  • “King of the Hill” is a bit more lenient. You earn points for staying closer to the front. The closer you are, the more points you’ll earn. The one with the most points wins. Due to the point structure, it’s possible to win without ever leading, but it’s unlikely.
GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience
  • “Overtake” challenges you to go from worst to first within a strict time limit.
GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience
  • Finally, “Qualification” is essentially a time trial. You’re given a strict time limit to complete a lap around the track. This is a pass/fail type of race, so you’ll receive no rewards for coming up just short of the goal.

In the garage

  • There are three main game modes. The campaign acts as the main single player mode and features the aforementioned race types. During each circuit, you’ll earn stars based on performance, unlocking more races. Purchasing new cars also unlocks races. Multiplayer is a single race against other players’ cars. Platinum Series is the timed event that features tough challenges, but huge rewards, including classic cars.
GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience
  • There are seven tiers of cars available with seven to thirteen cars available in each tier. A few cars are available for purchase at the start, and others will become available as you earn stars in the campaign. At any time, the star requirement can be ignored by making a purchase with premium currency. However, Tier 0 cars can only be earned through the Platinum Series.
GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience
  • There are four main upgrades you can make to each car. Top speed will obviously increase the maximum speed of your vehicle. Upgrading acceleration will decrease the time it takes to reach your top speed. Handling will make it easier to perform sharp turns. Upgrading the brakes will allow you to stop quicker, and also help make sharp turns.
  • Multiplayer features two challenges. The standard challenge costs 100 credits to enter and features a modest reward. The pro challenge costs 300 credits, disables the steering and braking assists, and features a bigger reward.
GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience
  • Multiplayer comes with a ranking system. Entering races will let you earn or lose RP. Winning a race will net you a good amount of RP, while losing will decrease your total by a large amount.

Tips and tricks

  • By default, the steering and braking assists are turned on. It is strongly recommended to leave the function on as you are learning the ropes. Making sharp turns requires you to decrease your speed to the perfect amount. Watching how the game slows you when turning will help you handle it on your own later.
GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience
  • You only get to choose between two cars at the start. Either one is fine, as you’ll be able to afford more in due time. The best way to earn credits to buy these cars is to play the campaign. Winning races will not only earn a decent amount of credits, but earning stars will make more cars available for purchase. You will also need certain cars for the Platinum Challenge.
  • You can ask friends to help you out in earning upgrades and pre-race boosts, if you don’t mind bugging them.
  • When you unlock new single player races, you can jump into them at any time. If your car isn’t ready for it, you’ll receive a notice recommending a number of upgrades. This isn’t a requirement, but in some situations, it may be impossible to win without them. You can hold your own if you need one or two, but any more and it may be too much.

Congratulations!
