Are your addition skills not up to much? Don’t know how to make 17 out of single numbers quickly and effectively? Well, doing that only comes with practice sadly, but we’ve put together a GREG Tips, Cheats and Strategies guide to make your experience more manageable and, hopefully, less stressful.

GREG Tips Cheats Strategies
  • You need to make good use of the combos. To advance levels, you need to rack up the points, not solve x amount of mathematical problems. So, string several numbers together in one line. Remember, though, lines can only either be horizontal or vertical, not diagonal.
  • Rack up combos in early levels to boost those points as earlier levels are slower paced and give you more time to think about potential combinations. Take advantage of that. Later on, you’ll be more concerned with surviving than trying to get your highest score.
  • Whenever you see a token turn into a power up, use it in any way, even if it breaks your current train of thought. All power-ups are useful, whether they stop the timer, reset the temperature of all tokens or even increase points earned. Don’t let them go to waste whatever you do.

  • If you’ve got red and yellow numbers on the grid, make sure you use them as opposed to anything else. If you can’t make the selected number with all your heated tokens, then use them in accompaniment with other numbers that you can.
  • If you don’t have any red or yellow numbers on the grid, start your combo with a hidden number.
  • Consider turning off Game Centre notifications or opting out of ads from the game entirely. Notifications are intrusive to the point that you can’t see the number you’re trying to make.
  • Try to memorise all quick and easy ways to make 10. 7+3, 8+2, 6+4, rather than confining yourself to thinking 5+5. Often getting to 10 can catch people out and take the time. Getting past that initial hurdle can be beneficial.

  • When tackling high-end numbers, consider using 7+7 which automatically takes you to 14, or 8+8 to 16. Depending on the selected number, this can usually make a solution out of just three numbers.
  • Practice. The most obvious lesson of all, but keep playing and learn the fastest sets of combinations. The more often you do these sums, the better chance they have of sticking and the more likely that you’ll get through the game quicker.
  • Using numbers doesn’t reset them to the beginning of their countdown if they’re already cold, but just about to advance. Keep that in mind when combining on the grid.
  • Numbers shake just as they are about to explode but don’t lose your head, keep your eyes on the numbers and never panic. There’s always a way out as long as you keep cool under pressure.

  • When all else fails, memorize the number, pause the game, work it out for as long as you need, unpause, then tap in the combination.
  • Take your time, but make sure you count accurately and precisely. There’s rarely room for error here, so if you’re going to take your time, make sure it’s for a good reason. The quicker you are, the better off you’ll be.
  • Mute the music and listen to your own jam. For your own sake.
