Grace Movement Guide

In Grace, speed is key. With the title’s main premise being that it’s a speedrunning game, how fast you move and how efficient you are at clearing rooms is what stands between you and victory. However fast you may travel between rooms, that doesn’t stop the looming threat of the various entities that slow you down or cause you to stop moving literally.

How to Move Quickly

  • Sprinting is, obviously, the core way of moving between rooms quickly, but you can also make use of the sliding animation to travel down staircases and slopes much faster
  • Sliding whilst jumping at the same time can give you some extra momentum as well, but if your timing is a little off, you’ll just slow yourself down
  • Bunny hopping is a term used to describe a constant flow of jumps. Instead of jumping on the spot, you jump forward, hopping like a bunny rabbit. While you gain momentum whilst doing this, increasing your speed, it’s also helpful when there are ledges or platforms in your way
  • Trimping is another method of gaining momentum before unleashing a large jump. Sprint, then crouch to slide across the ground, and when your speed starts to decrease, jump as far as you can to cover some major distance

Why is Movement Important in Grace?

If you’re playing the game as a speedrunning simulator, then you need to move as fast as possible through each room. It takes a lot of practice, as some obstacles and entities may take you by surprise the first time. It’s tricky keeping a high-speed rate when monsters are chasing after you, of course.

As they say, practice makes perfect. You need to familiarise yourself with room layouts, the behaviour of entities, and where ledges, locked gates, and levers may be located. Once you know what to expect when it comes to how the rooms look, you can start focusing on increasing your overall speed.
