Welcome to the Golden Trails: The New Western Rush walkthrough on Gamezebo.com. Golden Trails: The New Western Rush is a Hidden Object game by Awem Studio. This walkthrough includes tips and tricks, helpful hints, and a strategy guide on how to complete Golden Trails: The New Western Rush.
- Synopsis: You play Sheriff Jack, who is tasked with investigating a bank robbery. You’ll be uncovering clues, talking to suspects, finding stolen items and shooting gangsters.
- Length: There are 5 episodes in this game, plus a bonus secret mission if you collect enough stars.
- Modes: Adventure mode (story) and Unlimited mode (speed seek-and-find)
- Options: adjust sound and music volume; window or fullscreen display
- Cursor: you may turn off the custom cursor
- Timer: untimed; play at your own pace, but you earn trophies and bonus points for speed and accuracy
- Dialogue & Cutscenes: may be skipped (but you earn a trophy for not skipping)
- Mini-games: may be skipped
- Hints: limited; starts at 5 hints, but you can gain hints by shooting gangsters
- Penalties: rapid random clicking will lock the screen momentarily, and points will be deducted from your score
- List of objects: random list each time you play the game
- Location of objects: same place each time you play
Main Menu
- The stars below the title indicate how many Sheriff’s Badges you have collected. You need at least 150 badges to unlock the bonus Secret Mission.
- The Unlimited Mode is locked for now. Once you have 50,000 points, this speed seek mode will be unlocked. This is where you can earn the last few trophies for Accuracy and Response Time.
- You won’t see a Trophies tab yet at the start of the game. After you earn your first trophy, you’ll be able to access your trophy collection from the main menu as well as from within the game.
- Click on Play Adventure to start the game.
How to Play
- Hints may be used one after another; no need to wait before using the next hint.
- Sometimes you’ll need an inventory tool not found in the current location. Click on the Map to explore other locations.
- Some scenes are only accessible from within another scene. From an inner scene, click the blue Back button on the top left to return to the previous location.
- If an item listed on the taskbar has a green background, it’s a regular item in plain sight.
- If an item listed on the taskbar has a brown background, it’s a special item that may be hidden from view.
- To find special items, move your cursor around the screen. If you find something highlighted yellow, click on it to reveal the special item. If you find something highlighted blue, use an inventory tool on it.
- The special item may either be a tool or a piece of evidence. If it’s a tool, it will go into your inventory, and can be used in the current location or another scene. If it’s evidence, take note of it as you will asked to remember it later in a mini-game.
- You earn 50 points if you find a regular item in less than 5 seconds. If you find it in 5 to 10 seconds, you get only 45 points, and so on – every additional 5 seconds you take means 5 points less. The minimum points you can get per item is 5 points.
- The timer counts down as soon as you enter a scene. When you find an item, the timer resets. Switching to another location and re-entering the scene will also reset the timer.
- Clicking rapidly on random areas results in harsh penalties: 1000 points are deducted from your score, and the screen locks up for 8 seconds with an animated loop.
- There are 20 Stolen Items hidden in the game, and not all locations will have one. Click on sparkling areas to find them. They’ll only sparkle when your cursor is above them, so they’re quite easy to miss. Unfortunately, if you miss finding a stolen item in one location, you cannot go back to search for it if the scene has already been completed.
- Collect 150 Sheriff’s Badges in order to unlock the secret mission. There are usually around 3 to 4 badges per location (beginning with the Sheriff’s Office in Somerville). If you find all the sheriff’s badges in one location, a Well Done window will pop up.
- Shoot gangsters to earn hints. If your audio is turned up, you’ll hear a whooshing sound when a gangster pops up. He’ll only stay a second or two, so hurry and shoot him!
Trophies
- Aside from earning points for finding objects, you earn even more points every time you’re awarded a new trophy.
- Warning: if you play the game again with the same profile, you’ll lose all your Trophies. If you want to save your trophy display (to gaze upon it admiringly), just create a new profile next time you play.
- Another way to save your Trophies is to publish your achievements on the Awem site. To do this, you must first register an account at Awem.com.
