Finally, the highly anticipated start to Fortnite’s season eight is here. This means we have new areas in the map to explore, new challenges to complete and an entire Battle Pass worth of loot to aim for. With all these new additions to Fortnite, it’s easy to get lost in gameplay and forget exactly what challenges you need to do. Fear not, this FAQ should keep you on track.

What is Peely?

Peely is the reward for reaching rank 47 in this season’s Battle Pass. If you completed the 13 Valentine’s Day challenges at the end of last season, then you should be able to get your hands on this skin with a little hard work.

If you haven’t seen Peely yet, then you are missing out. He is an adorable banana that ripens while you play. So as you survive, he turns from a harsh green all the way to a perfect yellow.

Where are the Pirate Camps?

Once again, we see a challenge where players have to visit certain unmarked areas in the map. Last season it was expedition posts, this season we have pirate camps. The mode of transportation between these areas last season was an aeroplane, this season it’s a little more direct. Each camp has several cannons you can use to damage structures or jump in and launch yourself.

Above is a map of Fortnite with each individual Pirate Camp marked by a red circle. The camps are large, so they should be easy to spot from the air or ground. Don’t worry if you can’t read exactly where the camps are on this map, you won’t be able to miss them in the game. Apparently, after visiting all seven camps a battle star will appear over the watchtower in Lazy Lagoon.

Visit giant faces

This is a challenge for the Battle Pass members and it involves travelling to each of the three newest areas in the game; snow, sand and jungle. These rock faces are all facing outwards towards the ocean and are tricky to spot.

Lucky for us these rock faces have a large discovery zone, so once you run along the coastline in the areas indicated above, you should be fine. It might be ambitious to reach all three rock faces in one life unless you have a Driftboard.

What else is new?

Besides an entirely new area in this season of Fortnite, there are a couple of other new features to enjoy. The first being that planes are finally gone, this may not sound like an addition (because it isn’t) but, it makes surviving a lot better without worrying about air assaults.

There are Volcano Vents dotted around the map which launches your player up into the air. Think of these vents as already placed jump pads and use them to escape enemies or the storm. There is a Battle Pass challenge to use these vents in five games if you can’t find any then look around the volcano.

There were a lot of tweaks made for season eight, most notably the items that drop in chests. More than half the time you open a normal chest you will receive a common quality assault rifle. They have also reduced the chance of receiving a rare, epic or legendary assault rifle.

There were too many tweaks, changes and other patches for one article. If you would like to know more about the patch notes to this season, then click here.
