Flappy Fighter seems like it would be some strange mish-mash of Street Fighter and Flappy Bird. But no, it’s actually a pretty hardcore mobile take on the former, and it gets very tricky after you complete the fairly simple easy difficulty mode.

Don’t fret though, simply follow the tips below and you should be king of the ring in no time (and yes, we know no rings are involved in the game).

  • Block, turn, and kick it One thing you’ll have to master to compete against fighters in the medium or hard difficulty settings is the block. It’s done by holding down either of the two buttons on the left.
  • Run away There will be many situations where a block won’t suffice. Instead a quick tap will help you to perform a dash move, which can be essential if you find yourself taking a battering.
  • You’re so special Blocks become even more important when you consider that they help fill your special bar fill up. Once this is full you tap your name to unleash a powerful attack – using these are hugely important in dealing damage to the tougher opponents.
  • Experimentation is key The game may seem a tad simple, but don’t let the lack of modes fool you. There are a large number of combos you can pull off, and you can use the Training mode to find many of these. One we’ll start you off with is if you find yourself in a corner block your opponent then hit back by quickly pressing one, three, three, and four.
  • A full menu If you forget what each button does, simply pause and select the “command list” option – here the entire list of main moves will be listed. You can also turn off the virtual buttons if you prefer to have as little on-screen clutter as possible.
