Fisch Algae Guide – Dr Glimmerfin’s Golden Tide Quest and Rewards!

Everyone loves a freebie, and with some excellent rewards on the metaphorical fishing line, you won’t want to miss out on Dr Glimmerfin’s Golden Tide Quest. This Fisch Algae Guide tells the quest outline, how to complete it and what each reward entails.

Fisch Algae Guide

If you visit the new limited NPC Dr Glimmerfin located on the shore of Moosewood, you’ll be informed of the Golden Tide and Algae blooms. His request is relatively simple, asking the player to obtain one Algae from each spawn location. But, even in its simplicity, it’s not easy.

Despite only needing to get four, you’ll be in direct competition with other players. When Algae spawns, it works similarly to the Shark Hunts where only one player will fish it up, unless several spawned which happens, but rarely. Each Algae bloom has a catch radius, seen when a Fish Radar is enabled. The bloom locations include Mushgrove, Ancient Isle, Forsaken and Snowcap.

Dr Glimmerfin Algar Rewards

When you’ve captured an Algae, you can hand it to Dr Glimmerfin for a reward. You don’t need to farm them in any order, but if you’re missing some he will tell you the Islands you’re yet to find an Algae from. On completion, a cutscene plays where Dr Glimmerfin in his boat blasts the Golden Tide with a laser!

As expected, there are four rewards including:

• First Algae: a golden title named ‘Glimmerfin’s Pupil’
• Second Algae: A Large Glimmer Bobber.
• Third Algae: The player receives a decent mid-game rod namely the Firework Rod. It has a 15% chance to apply the Firework Mutation to caught fish which increases their value anywhere between 3-5x. Finally, a 20% Whale progression reduction speed and a 0.2% Whale encounter rate increase.

  • Resilience: 15%
  • Max KG: 25,000
• Fourth Algae: Triggers a cutscene where Dr Glimmerfins boat blasts the Golden Tide with a laser beam. After this preview, the player obtains Dr Glimmerfins Boat.

  • Steering: 33 Degrees
  • Acceleration: 0.25 S/PS
