What is the mysterious-sounding ‘Absolute Darkness’? It’s an event in Fisch that occurs randomly, but is there a way to activate it manually?
As far as we know, there isn’t a specific totem that activates the Absolute Darkness event – at least not yet. Totems are used to force events and weather types to occur, which is useful when you’re trying to catch a very specific fish with certain preferences.
This event happens at random and lasts a short duration, which is approximately around 10 minutes. As the name suggests, it turns the environment pitch black, making it difficult to see anything in the surrounding area. To signal the beginning of Absolute Darkness, a siren-like sound plays.
It can only occur in The Depths, meaning you cannot experience Absolute Darkness on any other island. This is because there is an event-exclusive fish called the Ancient Depth Serpent, which only appears during this event. The same fish solely resides in The Depths too, so it’s extremely rare, hence why it has the Exotic rarity.
When active, Absolute Darkness spawns a yellow pool in the water of The Depths. This is the abundance pool for the Ancient Depth Serpent, and it only appears in the event, disappearing before Absolute Darkness ends.
Due to these specific circumstances, I recommend being quick with this, as it’s very easy to miss the right opportunity. Bringing along a Fish Radar should help a bit, which you can purchase on Moosewood Island for 8K Coins.
