In this timed, spot-the-difference game from Fastone, the player becomes a detective with cases to solve. You find clues to build evidence for each case, as the deceptively simple game gets slightly more difficult with each adulterer and burglar you convict. These tips and tricks will help you close more cases without going cross eyed, and hopefully avoid the shame-inducing hint button reliance.
Easiest detective work ever.
It seems like it, from the first level. In each case there are five special clues to be found, and three or more items in each scene. Being such a straightforward game, you can learn everything you need to know from the first level: if something is in one of the pictures but not the other- tap it.
Lives and money.
You get paid quite well after completing each task, and this money can come in handy later in the game if you need lives. You start with five, and each refresh after a 10-minute wait time or can be purchased for $1000 of your earned money. You have enough time to find everything but tapping randomly will penalize you a large chunk of time, so tap only if you’re sure. The hints don’t cost any in game money, instead an instant hint it traded for a short video.
Divide and conquer.
The simplicity of the game can catch you out; you will easily find the items that are an oddity, or make a glaring hole in the scenario, but what about the tiny details? You must take care as the game progresses because it’s the small things, like a light switch in the on instead of off position that are easy to miss. The best tip for not missing the details is to view the scene as smaller pieces of a whole. So, in the bathroom scene don’t be distracted by all the details, instead pick a smaller area, like the bath. Now you can focus on one section at a time, it makes it easier to see differences if you search methodically. When the harder levels with more patterns and distractions come into play, this method will save you time and frustration. The cases using real photos can be overwhelming at first, but pick a tree, or doorway and investigate it slowly.
Sudden rule changes.
Once you master the art of seeing the smaller picture, you must quickly adapt to new rules. The early levels only have differences of missing, or extra items. After your first few successful cases however, “differences” really begins to mean that, and without warning. An object may be facing the opposite direction from the other picture, or in one case a mop handle was slightly longer. If you find yourself stuck pay close attention to patterned areas, trees and reflections. Don’t let your eyes ignore boring, everyday objects, and you’ll spot everything you need.
