Complementary to my “How to Reroll your Weapon” guide, I’m here to tell you how to attain Experimental Hogyoku Shards in VV ULTIMATUM.

VV Ult has a lot of Hogyoku-related items, so it’s easy to confuse them with one another and accidentally use the wrong type during play. This would hinder your progression rather than support it, so to avoid confusion, I’ll tell you how to use this item, where to get it, and how it alters your game, for better or worse.

Let’s get into it!

Experimental Hogyoku Shard VV ULTIMATUM

On use, the Experimental Hogyoku Shard rerolls your current weapon, giving you a new pull via RNG to pair with your build.

image shows the experimental hogyoku shard in a players hand with a green border and green text with the items name in the top right corner.

The Weapon you’re able to roll is locked to your Race, with the three primary Races having a unique selection of Weapons. Between them, there is no pity system or split roll chances, with each Weapon having an equal chance to roll. This is due to how Weapon Stats are assigned, in that there isn’t one weapon better than another.

They all perform uniquely and fit different builds, so rerolling only reassigns this statistical mash-up. If you have a Weapon that fits your playstyle, rerolling risks losing that Weapon for something you don’t wield well.

Jump ahead to find out how to get Experimental Hogyoku Shards.

Weapon Stats

Each Weapon (per race) juggles three primary stats, including Damage, Speed, and Range, assigning a certain amount of stats into each to create a unique Weapon that’s more than just cosmetic.

For example, the Katana/Sword is often the most balanced Weapon for each Race due to it having an equal share of Damage, Speed, and Range, making it the easiest Weapon to adapt to.

For tailoring to a Tank build, for example, you would benefit more from a Weapon like the Hammer, which has high Damage and decent Range, but sacrifices some Speed.

How To Get Experimental Hogyoku Shards

Experimental Hogyoku Shards are often attained via Daily Rewards and Raid Chests primarily. Other ways to find them include using the Hogyoku or via Microtransactions.

The Hogyoku is a bit of an enigma, so to quickly explain, you need to craft together 8 Hogyoku Shards to create The Hogyoku, which then grants a wish on use. Hogyoku Shards drop from Daily Rewards, Raid Chests, Hogyoku Rewards, Trading, and Microtransactions.

See what I mean about Hogyoku-related items becoming confusing?

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the best Weapon per Race?

Before you find your playstyle and unique build, I recommend using the Katana/Sword regardless of race, as this is the most balanced and easiest to use. When you have enough Experimental Hogyoku Shards, I recommend experimenting with rerolls to try out other builds.

How do I know which Weapon suits me?
