Dumb Ways To Draw Guide is a game with a line in amusing deaths. Asking you to guide a range of blobby creatures to an object of their desire – including a moose, let’s not ask about that – it’s your stand line drawing title, but does have some tricker levels.

So here are a few tips we’ve come up with to help you through the more difficult stages – follow these and you’ll avoid your character being splatted into a pulp. Hopefully.

  • Keep it small If you want to get the three star scores you’ll have to use as little ink as possible. Sometimes you’ll be surprised with how little shapes need to be, especially when it comes to stopping obstacles such as the bees and wrecking balls. Experiment a bit and see what does and doesn’t work.
  • Trial and error With the above in mind, there are some stages that are almost impossible to complete without failing a few times – or getting incredibly lucky. So don’t get too caught up with seeing your character get splatted, as it’s often essential in getting through the more complex levels.
  • Finger down As soon as you drop the first line your character will start to move in the direction he’s facing, and all the obstacles will start moving too – such as the wrecking balls. With this in mind don’t be too keen to remove your finger from the screen – draw your first line slowly and accurately.
  • Move fast After your first line everything springs into action, so you may well need to act fast on certain levels to avoid death. It’s best to have a plan before dropping your first line of course, but sometimes a level can be salvaged by some desperate last minute drawing. Never surrender.
  • Watch an ad As the game starts it helps you out a bit with where to place lines, but that advantage soon disappears. You can get some hints if you watch an ad though, and considering the game asks you to watch a lot of those already (and we mean a lot) it’s an option worth considering.
