General Information

  • Main Menu
    • Settings: Adjust the Music and Sound levels and turn Full Screen and Custom Cursors on and off.
    • Extras: The Extras are locked when you first start your game. There are 12 Dream Fragments to collect, throughout the game, that will unlock the 12 Minigames/Puzzles, one after the other.
    • Credits: View the information on the development team.
    • Change Player: Located at the lower left, you may create up to 4 profiles of 10 characters each (letters, numbers, symbols).
  • Game Screens
    • Menu Button: Located at the lower left, click on it to access the Main Menu, Help, Options, Quit and Resume. You can also use the Esc key, on your keyboard, to bring up the Menu. You must click on one of the buttons to continue (the Esc key won’t dismiss the Menu).
    • Electronic Log: Located to the right of the Menu Button, it contains the story elements you’ve encountered, so far.
    • Wake Up Button: Replaces the Electronic Log during dream sequences. Click on it to return to the normal state.
    • Hint Button: Located at the lower right, you can use it in general areas, to find items and receive general clues on your next steps/tasks, and in search scenes, to reveal a random item in the list.
    • Skip Button: Located at the lower right, during Minigames/Puzzles. Click on the Hint Button for the Instructions.
    • Inventory: Mouseover the bottom of the screen to raise it.
  • Gameplay consists of locating Inventory Items, Object Searches, Interactive Tasks, finding and navigating through various Areas and Minigames/Puzzles.
  • Interactive Tasks require you to use objects from your Inventory in Tool Wheels, to activate or manipulate items/areas.

Gameplay and Guide Tips

  • This guide assumes you’ve read the General Information, used the in-game Tutorial and/or Help features or otherwise familiarized yourself with the gameplay.
  • Object searches are random and only Inventory Items will be indicated.
  • You don’t need to click on Interactive Items to open the Tool Wheels. They will automatically open after you place your first item.
  • Some Inventory Items will be hidden behind objects in the scene. Click on them to add the Item to your Inventory.
  • If you don’t see an item in the Inventory, use the left and right arrows to scroll through your items.
  • Make sure to scrutinize the current scene if you find there’s nothing else you can do. Often, a new area will have opened up. Move your cursor around the scene to locate it. If there are no new areas, change locations and try again.
  • Many areas are accessible, but not everything will be available until you complete certain tasks.
  • The Hint and Skip buttons recharge/charge in 20-25 seconds.
  • In this walkthrough, Dream Fragments will be indicated in pink, Inventory Items in blue and Characters, Interactive Items and Entrances/Exits in yellow. Additional/Alternate colors, Numbers and/or Letters will be used where necessary and for clarification.

Walkthrough

Create your profile, adjust the Settings if you like, click on Play and watch the opening movie.

1 – Dolores Caballieri

Collect the Garden Shears, Mop and Tea Cup and then click on the Reception Sign (1). Find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Dolores’ Clinical Data (2 – located at the lower right) – use Dolores’ Clinical Data on the Clipboard (3), collect the Clipboard and then continue to the Lobby (4).

Click on the Plant (1 – receive the Rolled Canvas), collect the Fish Food and then use Dolores’ Clinical Data on Dr. Alexander (2). Click on the Green Chair (3), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Empty Water Bottle (4 – located at the lower left) – and then continue to the South Hallway (5).

Click on the Vase (1 – receive the Bait Can) and collect the Filled Water Bottle and Water Jug. Use the Water Jug and the Empty Water Bottle, in that order, on the Water Dispenser (2 and 3) and then enter Dolores’ Room (4).

Click on the Pillow (1 – receive the Gardening Gloves), collect the Ceramic Teapot and Fishing Line and then click on Dolores (2 – click twice).

Dolores’ Mental Association: Place all the items in the scene. Click on an item, move it to the correct location, left click to rotate it and then click to place it.

Collect the 4 Light Bulbs, the Dream Fragment and the Orchid Seed Bag. Click on the Ticket Booth (1), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Fertilizer (2 – located at the upper left) – and then click on the Wake Up Button.

Use the Fertilizer, Orchid Seeds, 2 Water Bottles and Garden Gloves on the Glass Bowl (1), click on the Blinds (2) and then click on Dolores (3).

2 – Gilbert Eberly

Use the Gardening Shears and Gardening Gloves on the Vine (1), return to Reception (click back 3 times) and click on the Reception Sign (2). Find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Gilbert’s Clinical Data (3 – located just to the left of center) – and then return to the South Hallway (click right and then left).

Use Gilbert’s Clinical Data on the Door and then enter his room.

Collect the Fake Coral, Net and Empty Footbath. Use the Fake Coral and Fish Food on the Aquarium (1), use the Net on the Tropical Fish (2) and then click on Gilbert (3 – click twice).

Gilbert’s Brain Analysis: Click on the one of the items when the corresponding item flashes in the Brain. Each item will flash for between 2 and 6 seconds. If you miss one, continue to the next and come back to the one you missed.

Collect the 2 Dream Fragments, the Reel and the Astrolabe. Use the Tropical Fish on the Lens (1), use the Lens on the Telescope (2) and then click on the Telescope. Find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Golden Anchor (3 – located at the upper right) – click on the Wake Up button and then return to the South Hallway (click back once).

Use the Footbath on the Water Dispenser (1), return to Gilbert’s room, use the Footbath on Gilbert (2), click on Gilbert and then use the Bait Can, Fishing Line and Reel on the Fishing Pole (3).

Reeling: Move your cursor down to the Hat, click on it and then pull it up to the surface, while avoiding all the Fish. If you hit a Fish, the Hat will fall and you’ll have to try again. Click on the following for a video example.

3 – Dolores Caballieri

Use the Golden Anchor on Gilbert’s Hat (1), return to the Reception Area (click back 3 times) and click on the Office Door (2). Collect the Aloe Vera, click on the Bookshelves (3) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Turtle Food (4 – located at the middle left).

Use the Turtle Food on the Turtle (1), click on the Chest (2) and collect the Sword. Collect the Shrimp (3), use the Shrimp on the Bowl (4) and use the Sword on the Vines (5). Return to the South Hallway (click right twice and then left) and then enter the Common Room on the right.

Collect the Honey, Steel Teapot and Tea Bag. Use the Tea Cup, Ceramic Teapot, Tea Bag and Steel Teapot on the Tea Tray (1), collect the Tea Tray, click on the Television (2 – click twice) and then click on the Painting (3). Find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Paint Brush (4 – located at the upper right) and then click on Dolores (5).

Enter the Dressing Room (1), click on the Poster (2) and collect the Dream Piece, Gloves, 2 Light Bulbs, Hat, Makeup, Coat (click 4 times), Sailor Doll and Ancient Dagger. Click on the Carpet (3), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Strawberry Jam (4 – located at the upper left) – and then click on the Wake Up button.

Use the Mop on the Mirror (1), return to Gilbert’s Room (2 – click back and then left), click on Gilbert (3) and then click on the Whirlpool (4).

Collect the Dream Fragment, use the Ancient Dagger on the Oyster (1), collect the Pearl (2) and click on the Memory Clams (3). Memory Clams 1: Click on any pair of Clams (4). If the Image on the Pearls match, then those Clams will be eliminated (note that the matching pairs are different each time you play). Eliminate all the Clams, collect the Key (5) and then click on the Wake Up button. Return to the Common Room (click back and then right) and click on Dolores.

Use the Pearl on the Necklace (1), collect the Necklace and use the Key on the Cage (2). Click on the Carpet (3), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Compass (4 – located to the right of center, just above the eyedropper) – and then use the Light Bulbs on the Mirror (5).

Use the Makeup (1) and Tea Tray (2), in that order, on Dolores. Use the Hat, Gloves, Coat and Necklace (3) and then click on Dolores (4).

Dress Dolores: Click on the one of the objects when the corresponding item flashes on Dolores. Each item will flash for between 2 and 6 seconds. If you miss one, continue to the next and come back to the one you missed. Note that in this minigame, the objects rotate around Dolores, and will disappear behind her head and the bottom of her dress. The 8 items that you will use are indicated in green.

4 – Gilbert Eberly

Return to Gilbert’s Room (1 – click back and then left). Click on Gilbert (2) and enter the Whirlpool (3). Use the Sailor Doll on the Mermaid (4) to receive the Telescope and return to the Dock (5).

5 – Rupert Gaines

Use the Telescope, Compass and Astrolabe on Gilbert (1), return to the Lobby (click back twice) and enter the Cafeteria (2) and return to the Reception Area (click back twice). Filing Cabinet: Click on the Filing Cabinet and then click on both Drawers (3) to open them. Click on any pair of Folder Tabs (it doesn’t matter what color the Folder Tabs are). If the Image on the Files match, then those Folders will be eliminated (note that the matching pairs are different each time you play). Eliminate all the Folders, receive Rupert’s Clinical Data and return to the Cafeteria (click right and then forward).

Collect the Mousetrap, Rustic Bread, Palette and Door Painting. Click on the Refrigerator (1 – click twice), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Milk Carton (2 – located on the bottom shelf, at the lower right) – use Rupert’s Clinical Data (3) and then the Honey, Strawberry Jam, Rustic Bread and Milk (4), in that order, on Rupert and then click on him (5 – click twice).

Click on the Stump (1) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Paint Roller (2 – located at the bottom, just to the right of center). Collect the Dream Fragment, Metal Tube, Small Branch, Wooden Spoon and Bear Claw. Use the Metal Tube, Wooden Spoon and Bear Claw on the Wind Chimes (3), collect them and then use them on the left Tree (4). Click on the Stump, again, find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Emergency Hammer (5 – located at the center, towards the top) – and then click on the Wake Up button.

Click on the Refrigerator (1) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Cheese (2 – located ). Use the Mousetrap, Small Branch and Cheese on the Mouse Hole (3), collect the Mouse (4) and then return to the South Hallway (click back and then left).

Continue to the North Hallway (1), use the Emergency Hammer on the Fire Cabinet (2), collect the Axe Handle and then return to Rupert’s Dream World (click back twice, click forward into the Cafeteria and then click on Rupert).

Use the Mouse on the Owl (1), use the Handle on the Axe Head (2), collect the Axe and then use it on the right Tree (3).

6 – Anne Rawlings

Return to the Reception Area (click back twice). Filing Cabinet: Click on the Filing Cabinet (1) and then click on both Drawers (2) to open them. Click on any pair of Folder Tabs (it doesn’t matter what color the Folder Tabs are). If the Image on the Files match, then those Folders will be eliminated (note that the matching pairs are different each time you play). Eliminate all the Folders, receive Anne’s Clinical Data and return to the North Hallway (click right, left and then forward).

Use Anne’s Clinical Data on the Door (1), enter the Room and collect the Slingshot, White Paint Can and Nocturnal Sky Drawing. Use the Rolled Canvas on the Easel (2), collect the Empty Canvas, use the Paintbrush, Palette and Empty Canvas (3) and then click on Anne (4 – click twice).

Anne’s Mental Association: Place all the items in the scene. Click on an item, move it to the correct location, left click to rotate it and then click to place it.

Collect the Columns Drawing, Dream Fragment, Green Pigment, Yellow Paint Tube and Light Blue Paint Tube. Use the Green Paint Tube on the Mortar (1) and collect the Mortar with Green Pigment. Click on the Still Life Painting (2), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Roller Frame (3 – located at the top center, just to the right of the dragonfly) – and then click on the Wake Up button.

Return to the Reception Area (click back 4 times), use the Light Blue Paint Tube on the Ink Bottle (1), collect the Dark Blue Ink and then return to Anne’s Room (click right, left, forward and then left into Anne’s Room). Use the Nocturnal Sky, Columns and Door Drawings on the Cork Board (2) and then click on Anne (3)

Use the Green Pigment, Dark Blue Ink, White Paint and Yellow Paint on the Canvas (1), click the Wake Up button, return to the North Hallway (click back once) and then enter the Pharmacy (2).

7 – Rupert Gaines

Collect the Cascara Bark, Fingerprint Brush, Forging Hammer and Long Stick. Use the Long Stick on the Air Conditioner (1) and collect the Sticky Tape. Use the Fingerprint Brush and Sticky Tape, in that order, on the Cabinet (2) and collect the Fingerprint. Use the Fingerprint on the Safe (3), collect the Formic Acid and then return to the Cafeteria (click back 3 times and then forward into the Cafeteria) and click on Rupert.

Enter the Lumber Mill (1), collect the Pincers, 2 Iron Horse Shoes, Iron Bell, Iron Frying Pan and Logs. Click on the Desk (2) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Oar (3 – located at the left). Use the Logs on the Saw (4), collect the 2 Canoe Frames and then use the Iron Bell, Iron Frying Pan and 2 Iron Horseshoes on the Stove (5).

Use the Pincers on the Molten Iron (1) and collect the Molten Iron. Use the Molten Iron and Forging Hammer on the Anvil (2) and collect the Shaped Iron Piece. Use the Shaped Iron Piece on the Metal Tube (3) and collect the Rubber Tapping Knife. Click on the Desk (4), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Bear Trap (5 – located at the center right) and use the Bear Trap on the Fox’s Tail (6). Return to Anne’s Dream World (click back, left, forward, left into Anne’s Room and then click on Anne).

8 – Anne Rawlings

Enter the Landscape (1), collect the Castor Beans, Magic Ink Bottle, Pisces, Spout and Dream Fragment. Use the Slingshot on the Hive (2), collect the Honey Comb, use it on the Bear (3) and collect the Buckthorn Berries. Use the Spout and Rubber Tapping Knife on the Rubber Tree (4) and collect the Natural Rubber. Click the Wake Up button and return to the Pharmacy (click back and then right).

Use the Formic Acid and Natural Rubber on the Tray (1) and collect the Eraser. Use the Aloe, Cascara Bark, Buckthorn Berries and Castor Beans on the Desk (2), return to Anne’s Dream World (click back, left and then click on Anne) and continue into the Landscape (click forward).

Use the Eraser on the Clouds (1), use the Paint Roller and Roller Handle on the Bridge (2) and use the Magic Ink on the Paint Roller (3). Return to Anne’s Dream World (click on Anne and click forward to enter the Landscape) and enter the Moon (4).

Collect the Pickaxe and Dream Fragment. Click on the Altar (1), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Star Chart (2 – located in the center) – use the Star Chart on the Temple (2) and then click on the Temple.

Constellations: Find the Constellations that match the ones shown below the Night Sky.

Click on the following for the video solution. Note that the solution is always the same and you may click on the Constellations in any order you like.

Click on the Altar (1), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Empty Air Crystal (2 – located at the top left) – and then use the Pickaxe (3) on the Blue, Red and Green Crystals (3 – Empty Water, Fire and Earth Crystals).

Use the Empty Air Crystal (1) in the Star Machine, use the Air Element Zodiac Signs (2 – Gemini, Aquarius and Libra) and then collect the Yellow Air Crystal (3). Repeat for the Water (Blue – Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces), Fire (Red – Sagittarius, Leo and Aries) and Earth (Green – Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn) Crystals. Use the Crystals in the matching colored spots (4).

9 – Dr. Alexander

Return to the Pharmacy (click back and then right, at the top) and click on the Desk. Use the Cascara Bark in the Grinder and collect the Cascara Powder (1). Use the Aloe in the Mortar, use the Pestle on the Aloe and then collect the Aloe Paste (2). Use the Buckthorn Berries in the Mortar, use the Pestle on the Berries, use the Test Tube on the Berry Paste, use the Test Tube on the Centrifuge and then collect the Buckthorn Berry Extract (3). Use the Castor Beans in the Grinder and collect the Castor Bean Powder (4).

Use the Cascara Powder, Aloe Paste, Buckthorn Extract and Castor Bean Powder in the Pill Machine (1), in any order, and receive the Laxative Pills (2).

Return to the North Hallway (click back), enter Dr. Alexander’s Office (1) and then return to the Lobby (click back twice). Enter the Cafeteria (2), use the Laxative Pills on the Coffee Pot (3), collect the Coffee and then return to Dr. Alexander’s Office (click back, left, forward twice and then right) and use the Coffee on Dr. Alexander (4).

Click on the Drawer (1) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Magnetic Card (2 – located at the upper left). Click on the Bookshelf (3 – click twice), use the Magnetic Card (4) and then enter the Basement (5).

Collect the Empty Reel, Projector Lens and Crank, click on the Box (1) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Film Reel (2 – located at the lower right). Use the Empty Reel, Film Reel, Projector Lens and Crank on the Projector (3). Click on the Key (4), collect the Key and then return to the South Hallway (click left and back twice).

10 – Gilbert Eberly and Dolores Caballieri

Use the Key on Dolores’ Door (1), enter the Room, collect the Steering Wheel Blueprint and then click on Gilbert (2).

Enter the Cruise Ship (1) and collect the Dream Piece, 2 Steering Wheel Handles, Engine Lever and Wheel Support. Use the Steering Wheel Blueprint and 2 Steering Wheel Handles on the Steering Wheel (2) and use the Steering Wheel and Wheel Support on the Platform (3). Use the Engine Lever on the Console (4) and then click on the Chart (5).

Ship Route: Reassemble the Chart. Click on a piece, right click to rotate it and then click to place it.

Click on each of the Levers (a, b, c, d and e) and then click on the Steering Wheel (1). Click on each of the Levers and Steering Wheel, again, and then click on the Radar (2).

Cannon Strike: Destroy the Pirate Ship. Click to fire a Cannonball from the Cannon (1), move your cursor so the Cannonball (2) avoids hitting the Sea Creatures (3) until the Cannonball hits the Pirate Ship (4). Repeat two more times to destroy the Pirate Ship. If the Cannonball hits a Sea Creature, it will be destroyed. As soon as you’ve destroyed the Pirate Ship, Gilbert will give you a Golden Anchor (5).

Click on Dolores (1), enter the Stage (2) and collect the Dream Fragment and Act III Sheet Music. Click on the Pile of Props (3) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Spotlight (4 – located at the right). Click on the Wake Up button, return to the Lobby (click back twice), click on the Chair (5) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Act II Sheet Music (6 – located on the left). Return to Dolores’ Room (click left twice) and click on Dolores.

Use the Spotlight on the Lighting (1), click on each one to turn them on (a, b and c), click on the Pile of Props (2) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Act I Sheet Music (3 – located inside the trunk, on the left).

Place all the Props in the correct locations. Click on the Box of Props (1) and then place them in the order shown (2, 3, 4, 5 and 6). Note that you have no control over which piece you can pick up, but the order will always be the same. Use the Sheet Music on the Music Stand (7).

Eliminate the Evil Fox as soon as it appears. The Fox will appear in one of the chairs, click on it to eliminate it and continue until they’re all gone and the Audience is restored. You’ll need to eliminate the Fox 8 times. Note that they will appear in different locations each time you play. As soon as you’ve eliminated the Fox, Dolores will give you a Golden Musical Note.

11 – Anne Rawlings and Rupert Gaines

Return to the Lobby (click back twice), click on Anne (1), enter the Ziggurat (2) and click on the Drape (3).

Collect the Scissors, Dry Rags and Paint Thinner, use the Dry Rag on the Paint Thinner (1) and then use the Rag on each of the Foxes (2 – there are 11 of them) to eliminate them from the Painting.

Collect the Paintbrush and Palette, click on the Paintbrush (1) and then click on one of the colors on the Palette (2), and then click on the correct part of the Painting to color it in. Note the Symbols on each section; they correspond to the other Images in the Gallery. Use them to determine which color goes where, on the Painting. In addition, the section will highlight with the correct color when you move your cursor over it. If you make a mistake, click on the Rag (3), click on the Paint Thinner (4) and then click on the section you want to erase.

Click on the Painting (1) to replace the Drape, use the Scissors on the Ribbon (2) and then click on the Painting (Drape) again. As soon as you remove the Drape, Anne will give you a Golden Brush (3).

Click on Rupert (1) and enter the Secret Lake (2).

Collect the Coconut, Bucket, Rubber Cap and Potato. Click on the Barrel (1) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Sponge (2 – located at the upper left) – and then click on the Tree (3).

Use the Bucket on the Bush (1), use the Rubber Cap, Coconut, Potato and Sponge on the Pipes (2, 3, 4 and 5), click on the Barrel (6) and find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Saw (7 – located at the upper right).

Use the Saw on the Tree (1), collect the Oar and use the 2 Canoe Frames and 2 Oars on the Canoe (3). As soon as you repair the Canoe, Rupert will give you a Golden Axe (3).

12 – Dr. Alexander

Return to the North Hallway (click left and then forward), use the Golden Anchor, Golden Note, Golden Brush and Golden Axe on the Sculpture (1), enter the Secret Passage (2), collect the Talcum Powder and then click on the Keypad (3).

Use the Talcum Powder on the Keypad (1) to reveal the Door Code (2). Click on the numbers – 3, 4 and 9 – and then enter the Machine Room.

Click on the Console (1), find all the items in the list – Inventory Item: Crowbar (2 – located at the upper left) – and then click on the Red Button (3).

Collect the Dream Fragment and use the Crowbar to destroy the Machines. You must wait until the Force Fields deactivate before you can destroy them. Wait until the Force Field deactivates on one of the Machines, click on it and then repeat for the remaining 4 Machines. (1). Collect the Evil Machine, Evil Cloud, Evil Fox, Evil Hallway and Evil Tree and then use them on Dr. Alexander (2).

Collect the Crystal Piece (1), return to the Lobby (click back 4 times) and use the Crystal Piece on the Sculpture (2 – you’ll receive the Dream Manipulator Lever). Return to the Machine Room (click left and then forward 3 times) and use the Dream Manipulator Lever on the Control (3).

Mental Energy: Defeat Dr. Alexander’s Evil Thoughts with your Good Thoughts. Click on an Evil Thought and then Click on the matching Good Thought. You’ll play 3 rounds of 5 each, until all the Evil Thoughts are gone. You’ll get a popup label when you mouseover each one, to make it easier to choose.
