Drawing random objects has been the premise of many successful apps on the app store over the years. Draw Story! seeks to add more to the genre than just drawing, by tying in what you’re supposed to draw with a storyline.

Is Draw Story! Good?

Yes, and no. Yes, because the drawing elements of the game are enjoyable and addictive to play. No, because the story part of the game really let it down. The story is not just average, it often dips below it. We have the amazing gift to draw and spawn in items in the game world, yet we don’t seem to exploit such a unique gift.

But hey, there is no point dissecting Draw Story here, if you want to know more than I suggest you read my review. Anyway, enough about what Draw Story is, let’s tell you how to be good at it.

Tips, Cheats and Strategies

  • Keep it simple. For the first 20 levels, the objects they will ask you to draw are basic. They get more complex over time, but they comprise simple shapes like circles, squares and triangles. Remember this for when you try to draw, make your drawing out of circles, squares and triangles.
  • Have fun. If you keep trying to draw an object in the same way, and the game doesn’t recognise it, then you won’t be having much fun. Erase what you are drawing and try it from a different angle or style. Persistence is a fun killer, so if you can’t do it then ask a friend to draw it.
  • Personalise your creations. Once your drawing has been recognised by the game, it’s time to add some flare. These drawings are saved by the game and are visible in the level select area. Making these drawings your own means scrolling through levels is an enjoyable experience.
  • Simplicity. I have mentioned keeping it simple in the tip above, but I figure I should elaborate further. The art style for this game is stick figures and could be recreated using Microsoft Paint. So, bare this in mind when you draw, keep it in line with their art style.
