What is Dupe?

In short, Dupe is an entity that lives in the Hotel area, and it will appear in rooms that have two or more doors. It was added in the January 28, 2023 update!

Dupe’s appearance is pretty off-putting, with a disembodied face smiling from ear to ear. The main features that stand out are its teeth and eyes, whereas the rest of its face is hidden in darkness – creepy!

What Does Dupe Do?

Dupe spawns as a fake door in a room that has 2 or more doors. If you end up opening the fake door (Dupe), it will attack you! It deals 40 damage to the players, so you better watch out as you explore the Hotel.

It will appear as a numbered door in a room, but it will be the wrong number. Keep in mind that if you get attacked by Dupe, the door’s label will disappear, and it cannot be opened by any other players on the server.

Dupe Tips

• One thing to remember when exploring the Hotel, is that Dupe’s door will have a rumbling noise as you walk near it
• They can also have locks on them sometimes, but this is only when the room has a Room Key
• Expect to see Dupe even in dark rooms
• Dupe will not spawn in the Infirmary or Jeff’s Shop, but it can spawn during Seek’s crescendo
• Multiple Dupe doors can spawn in one room
• You can use the Crucifix on Dupe when it tries to attack you – this leads to the door closing and the fake label falling off
