Smash Legends is a brilliant, fantastically fast brawler that sees you taking on players from all around the world in a bunch of different game modes. Mashing the screen might seem like a lot of fun, but if you come up against more accomplished players you might find yourself getting knocked out of the arena far too often.

That’s why we’ve written this guide. It breaks down every mode in the game, tells you what you should be focusing on and even suggests which Legend is best placed to dominate on the different battlefields.

Whether you’ve been playing the game since it launched, or you’re picking up the game for the first time, this guide is an indispensable chunk of information that’s going to see you taking your Smash Legends skills to the next level in no time.

Dominion

The key to winning in Dominion is keeping the other team away from the control point. Killing them is one way to do that, but the best offense is a good defense. Keeping control of the scoring in the game involves using attacks that knock back your foes, keeping them away from the centre of the map and dominating.

Cindy is a good character for this. Her combination of moves lets her dash in and smash back the opposing teams when they rush in, then clean them up with a leaping super move that’ll fire them out even farther.

Battle Royale

There are two things to think about in Battle Royale – hazards and candies. To get the candies you need to smash the crates – the more you get, the more powerful you’re going to be. The hazards move around the battlefield and close in from the edges, so you’re going to need to be mobile.

Red is a great character for Battle Royale. She’s fast, and she deals a lot of damage so she can open chests quickly. When another Legend dies, try using your ultimate near to the candies they drop – when someone comes to collect the goods you can attack them while invisible, dealing a load of extra damage and getting the upper hand.

Crown Guard

In this mode every player in the team gets a chance to hold the crown – once all three players have been defeated while crowned, or time runs down, the game ends. You need to focus on attacking the crowned player, or keeping out of the way if you’re the one who’s got the crown.

Kaiser is a pretty good choice for Crown Guard. He’s got loads of HP, and he’s great at defending other players by bashing down attackers. He’s not the most mobile though, so if you’re playing with a team only one of you should pick him. Don’t pick up health potions if you’re not the one with the crown, and try and create space between you and the enemy to dictate the fight.

Team Deathmatch

A straightforward battle to the death. The first team to get ten kills is the winner. There are obstacles on the level, so make sure you’re not wasting your special moves by charging into a wall. Keep an eye out for power-ups and memorize where they’re going to appear to give yourself an edge.

Peter is a great all-round character for Team Deathmatch. He can do loads of damage and if you time your ultimate spinning attack just right you can sweep up an entire team in one fell swoop.

Duel

This is a one on one battle to the death. The key to winning is snaffling the health potion when it appears – keeping your HP above your opponent’s is a sure-fire way to ensure you’re going to be coming out on top.

Hook is a great character for Duel. She can keep melee attackers at bay with her ranged weapons, and her ultimate attack deals a lot of damage and recharges quickly enough that you can sometimes chain it together a couple of times.

Harvest

In Harvest your focus is on gathering more fruits than the other team. Remember that golden fruits give even more points and can shift the balance of a fight. Killing isn’t the point here, so you’ll want to be using characters with good knockback abilities rather than those that are more focused on dealing huge amounts of damage.

You can team together to have one player focus on fruits and the others focus on keeping the other team away. Witch Queen is a great choice for messing up the opposing team, since her ultimate attack will turn them into frogs if it hits them.
