Deus Ex GO is a turn-based strategy puzzle game from Square Enix. One with lots of stealth, hacking, and corporate intrigue. Gamezebo’s Deus Ex GO tips, cheats, and strategies will help you sneak your way through a semi-dystopian cyberpunk world, and leave as few witnesses as possible.

Basic Hazards

Deus Ex GO Tips, Cheats and Strategies
  • Most enemies can be taken out by moving into their space from the sides or from behind. Never approach from the front if you can avoid it.
  • Basic guards – these taser-stick wielding foot soldiers will run straight towards you on sight, activating a shield that makes them pretty much indestructible as long as they’re alerted.
  • Guards only move in a straight line (to the space they last saw you and back to their original post), so they won’t follow you around corners. You can also use their temporary invulnerability to your advantage by putting them between you and a gun turret.
  • While guards only move in two directions, they can still be tricky to get around. Bad planning or a weird level layout may put their shielded selves between you and your goal. Try to find ways to eliminate them or trap them.

  • Guards can also undo your hacks if they land on a hacking space. This will set whatever object is connected to that hacking point back to its default state – reactivating red hexes, making turrets hostile again, etc.
  • Gun turrets – turrets are stationary and only face a single direction, but passing in front of them is instant death.
  • As stated before, you can use shielded guards to protect yourself from a turret’s fire. You can also hack turrets to make them friendly – shooting enemy guards and leaving you alone.
  • Turrets will not shoot through blocked (red) hexes.
  • Red hexes – any space that’s red can’t be walked through until you hack in to make it passable.
  • Red hexes will block an enemy’s line of sight.
  • Reactivating a red hex while a guard is on it will trap the guard in that space indefinitely. Reactivating a hex in front of a moving guard will trap him as well, but in the space in front of the hex.
  • Use red hexes and block shielded guards in order to protect yourself and keep paths clear.
  • Security robots – the basic security bot simply sits and waits for intruders to walk up to its face and say “hi.” They’re only dangerous if you move to a space directly in front of them, so as long as you maintain at least a single space between you and the angry-looking red circle that denotes the bot’s “eyes,” it won’t bother you.

Sneaking Around

Deus Ex GO Tips, Cheats and Strategies
  • Cloaking power-ups won’t be in a level unless they’re needed. Whenever you see one of these floating turquoise icons floating in a hex, you’re going to need to figure out how to grab it – and when to use it.
  • Cloaking will only make you undetectable for a single space of movement. Once activated (by tapping the cloaking icon in the top-right corner of the screen, then on Jensen himself) you’ll be able to move once without being seen. The next movement after that will cause the cloak to shut down and you’ll be vulnerable again.
  • You can take down enemies with a frontal attack while cloaked. Alerted guards are still shielded, however, so attacking them head-on will only drop your cloak and get you tasered in the face.
  • Hacking is necessary in order to get around most turrets and through red hexes. To hack, step into a hacking space (denoted by a floating yellow computer icon) and tap on Jensen. Then trace a line from the hacking space to whatever object you intend to hack. Objects that appear red on this screen cannot be hacked.

  • You can only hack one device from a single hacking location at any given time. You can change targets, but you won’t be able to hack two things at once from the same spot. Instead, you’ll need to keep an eye out for a second (or third, etc) hacking location.
  • Hacking lines can’t be crossed. If you need to hack more than one thing at the same time, know that the paths you trace out will be very important. Once a path is drawn, no other lines can be drawn past it from other hacking spots. Keep this in mind when you trace.
Deus Ex GO Tips, Cheats and Strategies
  • Every level has a optimum move count. Replaying a stage will display a move counter in the bottom-left corner of the screen, with your current number of moves/the maximum. If it’s your first time playing a level, you can view the move counter by tapping on the menu button (the arrow) in the top-left corner of the screen.
  • You can complete a level after exceeding the move limit, but if you want 100% completion – and a pretty gold level marker instead of standard black – you’ll need to make every step count.
  • Hacking does count towards your overall movement.
