Game Introduction – Dessert Heroes

Dessert Heroes is an iPhone game developed by Astro Ape Studios that lets players run their very own bakery. Gamezebo’s Dessert Heroes strategy guide and walkthrough will provide you with a quick start guide, tips and tricks, hints and cheats on make your bakery the best around.

Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

Dessert Heroes

  • Dessert Heroes can be downloaded for free. the App Store by following the “Get It Now!” link at the top of this page.
  • In order to play you’ll need to sign up for a Plus+ account, which is a free social network for online mobile games. If you already have an account you simply need to sign in, otherwise you’ll actually need to create a brand new account.
  • To start off you’re given a small bakery with a single stove. In order to make money, which comes in the form of sugar cubes, you’ll need to bake cakes. To do this, just tap on the stove and a cake menu will pop up. From here you select a cake and then wait until it’s ready. Each cake has a specific baking time indicated on the menu.

Expanding and Customizing Your Business

  • As you earn more sugar cubes you can use them to reinvest in your bakery. You can purchase either decorations and equipment or clothing for your avatar.
Dessert Heroes
  • To change the name of your restaurant just tap on its name at the top of the screen. You can rename it as many times as you like.
Dessert Heroes
  • The most important part of your arsenal are your stoves. You can purchase multiple stoves from the decorations menu, but you are limited in how many you can have at one time by your experience level. Once you start gaining levels you’ll eventually be able to add more stoves.
  • You’ll also need display cases, which are where your baked goods will sit before being purchased. A good rule of thumb is to have as many display cases as you have stoves, that way you shouldn’t have any issues with running out of space.
Dessert Heroes
  • Other decorations include new floors, wallpaper, and knick knacks like lamps and statues. But these do more than just make your place look good. Each item has a sweetness rating, which increases your overall sweetness score. The higher your sweetness score, the more money people will pay for your goods.
Dessert Heroes
  • You can also increase the size of your bakery in the decorations menu. This won’t effect your sweetness score, but it does give you more space in which to put decorations that will do just that. Size increases are expensive and, like stoves, are limited by your experience level.
Dessert Heroes
  • Unlike most games, when you purchase new goods your old stuff doesn’t disappear. Instead, it gets put into storage. So, for instance, if you purchase some new floor tiles, your old ones will be safely tucked away. In order to access your stored goods simply go to the decorations menu and any item that you have stored will have a number in the upper right corner. This number represents how many of that particular item you have in storage.

Mini-games, Socializing, and Money

  • Selling cakes isn’t the only way to earn sugar cubes. Dessert Heroes also features a trio of mini-games that will earn you some much needed currency.
Dessert Heroes
  • The Golden Cupcake is an almost exact replica of the television game show Deal or no Deal. Your given a number of cupcakes to choose from, each of which has a hidden money value. You’ll pick one and then slowly eliminate other ones. Every so often you’ll be given the option to either keep eliminating cupcakes with the hope of getting one of the higher value ones, or to simply cut your losses and take a specific sum of money instead.
Dessert Heroes
  • Then there’s Cake $ Scratch. This game is sort of like a scratch ‘n win lottery ticket, except you get to scratch every single number. Which ever numbers match, you’ll win that amount of money. But because you get to scratch them all, it’s all based entirely on luck, with no skill involved.
Dessert Heroes
  • The third, final, and most common mini-game tasks you with tapping a cake as many times as possible before the clock runs out. Each tap will earn you a certain number of sugar cubes. Problem is, there’s a flying bomb that tries to get in your way. If you hit the bomb, it explodes and the game is over before the time runs out. The easiest way to avoid it is by tapping at the top and bottom of the cake, which the bomb tends to avoid.
Dessert Heroes
  • In addition to earning sugar cubes by selling cakes and playing games, you can also purchase them with real-world money. The cubes come in bundles ranging from $1.99 all the way up to $19.99.
Dessert Heroes
  • You may also have noticed that certain items can not be purchased with sugar cubes. This is because there’s a second form of currency: magic sprinkles. You’ll start out with just a few sprinkles, and the only way to get more is by purchasing them. They aren’t earned in the game. However, it’s not necessary to purchase them. None of the sprinkle-only items are required to be successful, they simply provide more options.
  • If you have friends who are also playing the game, there are a variety of ways that you can connect with them. You can search for friends using a number of tools, including the Plus+ network, your iPhone contacts, Facebook and Twitter friends, Google contacts, and more.
Dessert Heroes
  • You can visit the restaurant of any of your in-game friends, which lets you have a look around at how they have customized their game. But you can also help clean up. Occasionally restaurants will get dirty, and all you need to do is tap on the dirty spots to clean them. The total number of dirty spots is listed in the upper right hand corner of the screen, and once you get them all you’ll earn a bonus.
