Welcome to Gamezebo’s strategy guide for Defenders of Law: The Rosendale Files.

In this hidden-object game you have to help a team of lawyers to prove the innocence of one of their clients. The daily work of private investigators and lawyers can be quite complicated, so we hope that you can find some help in this strategy guide when needed. It contains general tips and explanations of the main features of this game, as well as a complete walkthrough.

GENERAL TIPS

  • At the beginning of the game you can choose a picture for your character’s profile, enter a name and decide whether you want to play in adventure or relaxed mode.

  • In adventure mode, wrong clicks will reduce your time until the hearing at court takes place.
  • If you use a hint, you do not get the exact position of an object. In fact the location of the object is indicated by a glowing circle, while the said object is also highlighted in the list.
  • It is random which hidden objects appear in which scenes, so the game definitely offers some replayability.
  • When you are able to open drawers or cabinets, or manipulate other objects, this is indicated by a change of the cursor. Sometimes there will be some of the items which are on your list, sometimes not. If you come round to a certain scene drawers/cabinets you already opened will still be open.
  • The number of hints in this game is not limited. However, the hint button recharges very slowly and there is no way to earn additional hints or to reduce the time it takes for the button to reload. This means that you should only use a hint when it is really important.

The Map:

  • From the map you have access to the different locations that you are going to investigate. Click on any unlocked building to enter it:

  • When you enter a building you see the blueprint of the building and the rooms you can access – you can enter them in any order:

  • If you get stuck at a certain scene you can return to the map by clicking on the little "Back to the map"-icon in the left corner of the screen.

Crime Lab:

  • Here you are able to analyze the different clues you have found in the course of your investigations.
  • Drag the items from the evidence board to the woman on the left-hand side of the screen at first, and then to the according analysis instrument:

The Courtroom:

  • In the courtroom you have to prove that your own client is innocent and may even discover the true culprit.
  • Choose the true statement out of two statements to battle the district attorney.

The Achievement Plaque:

  • Here you can review your evidence cards. Simply click on them to read the information you have already gained. There are three columns altogether, indicating WHO the murderer was, WITH which weapon he/she killed the victim and WHERE the murder took place:

The Magnifying Glass:

  • In some cases you have to use the magnifying glass to locate items. This is indicated by a sparkling object in the scene:

The Flashlight:

  • The flashlight can be used in dark rooms. It is mainly useful to find light switches again.

The UV-Light:

  • The UV-Light enables you to find the blue items on your list. Take into account that it can only be used in dark rooms, so you always have to turn off the light or draw a curtain to use it effectively.
