Darktide Error Codes

Now, let’s try to fix these errors.

Darktide Error 2001

  • Your PC may not meet the minimum requirements for the game

If your PC doesn’t meet the minimum requirements, then we suggest taking a look at your graphics card drivers – they may need updating. We also suggest verifying the game’s files in case any have corrupted somehow. Resetting your router can also fix this issue, bizarrely.

Darktide Error 2006

  • Stuck in the loading screen

Many players have reported coming across this error code when playing through a mission. When you try to join a game, you may have experienced error 2006. This error results in some players being stuck in a loading screen, rather than being able to actually play the game.

While there is no official fix for this error at the moment, we’ve got a few ideas that may help you. Firstly, open up the Settings menu in Darktide before you start the game. Click on the “Worker Threads” option in the settings menu and type in a lower number.

The second fix is erasing all of the data from Darktide. To do this, you need to hit the Windows key on your keyboard, followed by pressing CTRL+R. Next, you need to type in %appdata% and press enter. Once you’ve done that, your file explorer will open up! Search for the Fatshark folder and delete the directory for Darktide.

Darktide Error 4001

  • “Hot join party hub failed” message

If you’re getting this error, you may have been trying to join other players. If this error message pops up, ask the host to double-check their connection settings. If that doesn’t fix the issue, then try hosting your own game.

Darktide Error 2003

  • Disconnect from the server

A disconnect is caused by a temporary outage due to your internet connection, or a problem on the game’s end. If Darktide continuously disconnects then we suggest restarting your PC or router.

If a restart doesn’t work, then try verifying the game’s files. If both of these options don’t solve the disconnection issue, take a look at your DNS settings – they made need changing. We’ll go over how to do that below.

  • Open your PC Control Panel
  • Click on Network and Internet
  • Click on Network and Sharing Center
  • Click the option that is positioned next to Connections
  • Select “Properties” – this will make the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) window pop up.
  • Enter the Preferred DNS server as 1.1.1.1
  • Then enter the “Alternate” DNS server as 8.8.8.8

Darktide Error 2007

  • Internal error

There seems to be some correlation between this error and the 2003 error. We suggest trying the solution we included under our Darktide Error 2003 heading. Please keep in mind that error 2007 may occur because of Fat Shark’s servers – you’ll have to wait it out until the servers are fixed by the developers.

If none of these fixes work, then try uninstalling and reinstalling the game itself. The most likely cause of error 2007 is a problem on Fat Shark’s end

Darktide Error 30004

  • A possibly corrupted install

This error seems to pop up when you try to launch the game. The main way to solve a corruption issue is to verify the game’s files through the launcher. In Darktide’s case, you’ll have to do this through Steam. It may be a case that the game needs an update through Steam before it can successfully launch.

Darktide Error 30005

  • Error with Easy Anti-Cheat making Darktide crash

With this issue, it may have a simple solution. Check whether you have the Easy Anti-Cheat software in the first place, or if any specific files are missing. This is because some of the files for Easy Anti-Cheat may have been corrupted for an unknown reason. It’s either that, or your chosen Antivirus software is conflicting with it.

Once you’ve checked your Easy Anti-Cheat files, and nothing seems to be wrong with them, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Easy Anti-Cheat software.

Darktide Error 5001

  • Unable to connect to a mission as it is “not healthy”

There is no fix for this issue at the moment – please check back soon!

Darktide Error 5002

  • Server maintenance taking place

The only solution for this error code is to wait until the developers open up the servers again.

Darktide Error 4008

  • “Failed handshake timeout”

There seems to be a pattern of this error code popping up for those who use a VPN. Whether you’re using a VPN or not, we recommend making sure that nothing is downloading in the background on your PC. We also suggest verifying the game’s files and taking a look at your firewall settings. Try out these solutions first before turning off your VPN – it may just be a simple fix.

Shader Cache Error

  • “Something went wrong in the Shader Cache Builder process. Exit Code = 1”

If you’ve received this error message, you’ve probably had to restart your PC. It seems to completely lock up a device – which is a pretty big issue. Follow the steps below to fix this problem:

  • Press the Windows key and the R key simultaneously
  • Type %AppData% into the search bar
  • A window will pop up in a folder named “Roaming”
  • Delete the Fatshark folder
  • Restart the PC
  • When your PC turns back on, launch Darktide
  • This will lead to the Fatshark file being downloaded again

Error Code 9999

  • Game becomes unplayable

If you’ve received this error code then there’s a chance you can’t even get into the game. There is no fix for this right now, but the developers have been made aware of it. So we expect to see a solution soon – remember to bookmark this guide to refer back to!

Some people have said that error code 9999 can be fixed by using the error code 4008 solution – give it a try!

That’s all of the Darktide error codes that have been reported so far. For updates on the game check out the game’s official website.

Backend Errors

Players have been reporting backend errors on the official Fatshark forum. The best solution to this issue is to make sure your character name only includes alphabetical characters and hyphens – which means no numbers, and no spaces.

Alternatively, you can also try the usual fixes such as restarting the game and PC, or checking your anti-virus software block list.

Error Code 3001

If you’ve received this error code, it’s more than likely that you’ve experienced sudden disconnections.

This error code results in players not being able to join back into the game, followed by a pop-up that says “Failed Joining Lobby”. Sadly, there are no known solutions to this issue yet, but Fatshark are aware of it.
