Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

Cut the Rope 2

  • You can download Cut the Rope 2 by clicking the “Play Now!” button at the top of this page.
  • A quick movie explains the game’s premise. You can skip it by tapping.
  • A brief tutorial shows you the basics of Cut the Rope 2, most of which should be familiar if you’ve played the previous Cut the Rope games.
  • When the tutorial is done, you’re allowed to help Om Nom find his candy. Tutorials explaining mechanics that appear later in the game pop up from time to time.

How to Play

Cut the Rope 2

  • Objective – Om Nom’s beloved stash of candy has been stolen by spiders. Om Nom gives chase and finds himself in the outside world, far from the safe confines of his box home. He must reclaim his candy one piece at a time by cutting the ropes that hold it captive. He’ll also need to call on his new friends, the Nommies, to grab especially hard-to-reach candy.
  • Level Packs – Om Nom travels through several environments, each of which holds twenty levels (plus optional, unlockable bonus levels). Swipe from left to right to switch between the level packs on the main screen.
  • Options – To access the options menu, tap the gear-shaped icon at the bottom right-hand side of the title screen. From here you can adjust the sound and music volumes, look at your achievements, and erase your data if you want.

Cut It Out

  • Cut the Rope – Almost every stage of Cut the Rope 2 has at least one rope in it, usually holding up a piece of candy that you need to drop or roll into Om Nom. You can cut the titular rope simply by swiping it. Ropes may also hold up planks, traps, and hazards. It’s not necessary to cut every single rope to finish a level, and indeed there are many instances wherein leaving a rope alone is far better than disturbing it.
  • Om Nom Wants Candy – Feed candy to Om Nom in order to finish a level and move on. To feed him, drop the candy from up high, roll it towards him, or find a way to make it fly upwards.
  • Collect Stars, Open New Worlds – You need only feed Om Nom to move on to the next level, but collecting stars (done by brushing them with the candy while it’s on its way to Om Nom) is important for unlocking new level packs.
  • Observe Your Environment, Rely on Friends – Scoring top points on a level usually requires you to take full advantage of a level’s terrain and enlist the help of Om Nom’s friends, whenever they’re available.

Meet the Nommies

Cut the Rope 2

  • Lick – Lick is a chameleon whose long tongue can form bridges for candy and environmental objects like logs.
  • Boo – Boo scares Om Nom, causing the normally-immobile monster to jump upwards.
  • Roto – Roto is a dragonfly capable of carrying environmental objects, candy, and even Om Nom himself.
  • Toss – Toss can throw objects upwards, including candy.
  • Blue – Blue is a self-replicating Nommie. Tap on him to make an instant clone. The clones can stack and lift objects into the air.

Objects That Help and Hinder

  • Logs – Logs often swing from ropes. They can be used to knock nearby objects aside. When they’re cut free, they roll and push away whatever’s in their path (Om Nom included).
  • Balloons – When Om Nom falls into the outline of a balloon, it instantly inflates and snags onto him. The more balloons he has, the higher he soars. You can pop balloons to drop altitude. Sometimes objects like logs are also attached to balloons.
  • Bellows – Press on bellows to send forth a burst of air. This burst pushes around objects in the vicinity, as well as balloons, and Om Nom.
  • Magnets – How do they work? Pretty much like you’d expect. Tap one and it will attract candy.
  • Planks – Planks form bridges for candy and environmental objects. They can be lifted from above by Blue, or by another force.

In-App Purchases

  • Power-Ups – Purchasable power-ups include balloons (to make Om Nom float on the spot), a “candy rain” that causes candy to cascade from the sky, and a firefly that demonstrates exactly how to get all three stars on any level. Fireflies don’t show how to get clovers, however.
  • Hats – Om Nom can try on fun hats, including a winter hat, a sheep hat, and a superhero bandana. Hats don’t grant any extra abilities: They’re just for fun.
  • Extras – You can purchase extras if you want to spice up the game’s visuals a little. You can change Om Nom’s candy to a fruit, for instance, or you can turn your own on-screen tracing motion into bubbles or a rainbow streak.

Tips

Cut the Rope 2

  • Watch Movies – Some level packs contain movies that can be accessed through the movie camera icon on the bottom right-hand side of the screen. Keep an eye out for more!
  • Don’t Stress Over Stars – If you’re having a day where you’re just not in “the zone,” don’t worry about grabbing all three stars in a level right away. You can pass the level as long as Om Nom gets his candy. Return later and try again for a top score.
  • Collect Clover – Some levels have four-leaf clovers that Om Nom can collect in addition to his candy. Clovers are especially tricky to reach, but if you collect enough, you’ll be able to unlock the secret levels at the bottom of each level pack.
  • Try Missions For Extra Challenge – When you complete a level, look for a medal-shaped icon at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to observe that level’s “mission.” Missions offer an extra challenge (for example, completing the level without using a Nommie’s power), and are fun to attempt if you’ve already three-starred a stage.
