Check out our tips and tricks for Cradle of Persia and learn the best strategies for conquering Awem Studios’ latest match-three puzzler.

GENERAL HINTS

  • Unlike Cradle of Rome in which you swapped 3 tiles or more to make matches, in Cradle of Persia you have to match 3 or more tiles of the same kind by clicking on adjacent pieces and dragging the selection in order to make a match.

  • The Game Shop is where you buy buildings for your city as soon as you get enough resources. It appears after each level that you’ve played. You can read a description and see the amount of resources needed in order to buy a particular city. Just move your mouse around a building’s icon in order to see a description of each.To buy the building press the BUY button near the icon as soon as it is available.

  • Once you figure out which resource you need the most to buy your next city, try to make extra matches on the resource that you have the least of. The faster you fill your requirements, the faster you can buy a city.

  • When you finish a level quickly, you will earn the resource that you need the most. You can tell which resource you’ve earned by looking on the top right side of the summary page under ‘Time Bonus’ in the summary page under ‘Time Bonus’.

  • If there are no more moves left in the game, new tiles will appear randomly throughout the board and you will not lose time or points.

  • You start the game with 3 lives, you will earn an extra life for every 20,000 points you score.

  • When you start a level with any power-up that is filled to the 4th upgrade, use it early on so you can have time to refill it as you continue to play the game. That way if you need to use it again you will have another chance to do so or you can save it for the next round.

  • If you’re close to the end of a level and you don’t need a particular power-up to help you finish the level, hang on to it since it will roll over to the next level.

  • When you’re close to the end of the game with plenty of time left and only 1 match to go to finish the level. Go to the opposite side of the screen, match as many power-ups as you can and replenish your bonus to the max so that you can save it for the next round.

  • As patterns get more complicated in upper levels try to make matches early on in the hard to reach corners first or as soon as you see the opportunity, since they are always harder to match. Also hang on to your bonuses in the last few levels since you don’t get to play the bonus round that allows you to replenish them.

  • In the levels in which you have to break chains while matching, start breaking the chains before you start matching other things, even the corners. The chains are always hardest to do and sometimes you have a better chance in the early stages of a level to break the chains faster if you do it before things get moved around too much.

  • Chained pieces will stay in the same positions until the chains are completely broken.

  • Every 10 or 12 levels some magic runes will appear, if you can line all of them up and link them you can finish the level automatically. Use the hints in this guide pertaining to the way tiles move to help you line up the runes correctly.Another good reason to use the runes to help you finish a level automatically is that if you do 5 of them throughout the game you will get the ‘Princess’ citizen.

  • You will earn more points per tile if you make bigger matches, try to link 5 tiles or more when possible to get the maximum amount of points.

  • Frequently in the game you will see bonus treasures appear, you can use them to substitute for any tile. You can recognize them because they look like a green ball with red fringes hanging around them.

    MANIPULATING TILE MOVEMENTS

It is important to know which way the tiles move when you link them because it will help you manipulate the tiles to fall in the places that will help you the most. If the tiles fall in the place that you want, you can make bigger matches and finish faster. (This is especially helpful when the magic runes appear because linking all 3 or 4 runes will complete your level automatically.)

  • When you drag the tiles in a row starting from the left and pulling them towards the right the tiles will move towards the right.

  • The same goes for the opposite way, if you drag the tiles in a row from the right and you’re pulling them towards the left, the tiles will go to the left side of the board.

  • If you drag them across the board in a zig-zag pattern the tiles will move in the same pattern you just made. If you started from the bottom and you went up, the tiles will follow the same pattern you just made and will end with the last tile you linked.

  • This will also be useful when you are trying to move a blocked tile that you are trying to free up.

If for some reason you don’t understand this section as written, just observe the path the tiles take every time you drag them and then you’ll be able to see what I’m saying with more clarity.

    BONUS ROUNDS

  • The bonus round is where you get to either choose to refill your power-ups or replenish some resources.

If you click on the replenish resources tab, you will get three pieces that will behave like the movement of a slot machine. Click on the button below when you wish for it to stop and 3 resources will be filled. If you have 2 of the same resources appear, the amount that you gain will be doubled.

  • You should choose to fill the resources when you have the majority of your bonus treasures intact.

When you decide to replenish your bonuses, you will have 10 tries in which to replenish as many resources as you can. There’s no time limit so take your time and think about your moves carefully.

  • You can backtrack your selections by simply retracing your steps, that way if you see a move that’s more beneficial you can go ahead and do it.

  • When you fill one power-up to the 4th upgrade, the rest of the pieces will disappear allowing you to make matches on a different power-up that you still need to obtain.

  • For example, you need to fill the dynamite, magic wand and the clover upgrade all at once. Once you’ve filled the clover to the 4th level, all the clovers will disappear and they will be replaced on the board with either dynamite or magic wands.

  • Once all your available power-ups have been filled to the 4th upgrade, you will no longer be able to make matches but you will earn bonus points for each unused turn that you have left.

  • If you have 4 turns left, you will gain an additional 400+300+200+100 units of random resources.

    BONUS POWER-UPS

  • Each bonus power-up has four upgrade levels.

  • The more matches you make the bigger the bonus icon gets and it keeps growing for each of the 4 levels.

You will notice that at a certain points the size of the bonus icon changes all at once, each change represents a new upgrade.

  • I will list the power-ups in the order in which they appear in the game and what each upgrade represents

If you click on a power up and then decide not use it, you can just click it back in its spot and it will remain there until you click it again.

    DYNAMITE

  • Dynamite is really great for when you need to target a specific area.

  • Even though the dynamite bonus was one of the first ones to appear in the game, it is one of my favorites ( along with the Shield) because it can help you get out of tight spots.

  • If you’re stuck in a hard to reach corner, and you can’t seem to manipulate the tiles to your advantage then use the dynamite bonus since it can be placed exactly where you want it.

  • stage 1 – Use it to break any tile, marble plaque or chain in the field.

  • stage 2 – Use it to break any cross of tiles along with marble plaques, chains or boxes on the field.

  • stage 3 – The third dynamite upgrade will allow you to break any square of tiles along with marble plaques, chains or boxes on the field.( 9 tiles)

  • stage 4 – Use it to break any rhombus grid of tiles along with marble plaques, chains, or boxes in the field. (13 tiles in the shape of a cross)

    MAGIC WAND

  • The magic wand is nice because it is placed randomly throughout the playing field in order to help you make matches with ease.

  • 1st Upgrade – Use it to turn any 5 random tiles into bonus treasures.

  • 2nd Upgrade – Use it to turn any 7 random tiles into bonus treasures.

  • 3rd Upgrade – Use it to turn any 9 random tiles into bonus treasures.

  • 4th Upgrade – Use it to turn any 11 random tiles into bonus treasures.

    LIGHTNING BOLT

  • 1st Upgrade – Use it to break 5 tiles along with marble plaques and chains across the game field.

  • 2nd Upgrade – Use it to beak 10 tiles along with marble plaques and chains across the game field.

  • 3rd Upgrade – Use it to break 15 tiles along with marble plaques and chains across the game field

  • 4th Upgrade – Use it to break 20 tiles along with marble plaques and chains across the game field.

    CLOVER

  • 1st Upgrade – It can switch a FEW tiles to another of your choice.

  • 2nd Upgrade – It can switch HALF the tiles to another of your choice

  • 3rd Upgrade – It can switch MOST of the tiles to another of your choice.

  • 4th Upgrade – It can switch ALL of the tiles to another of your choice.

    HOURGLASS

  • It is a good idea to replenish your time bonuses even if you don’t need them to complete a level. When you use it, you will get extra points for unused time that will go to the resource that you are most in need of.

  • 1st Upgrade – It gives you 30 seconds of additional time.

  • 2nd Upgrade – It gives you 1 minute of additional time.

  • 3rd Upgrade – It gives you 2 minutes of additional time.

  • 4th Upgrade – It gives you 3 minutes of additional time.

    SHIELD

  • The Shield is really great when you have levels that have a lot of chains to break.

  • You might think it’s better to wait until the Shield is filled to the 4th upgrade before you use it but that is not always the best thing to do.

  • In higher levels where there are multiple chains to break, use the Shield when it gets to the 1st upgrade and destroy one row at a time.

  • The reason it is better to do this is because it takes less time to fill up a bonus to the first power than it is to the fourth. You will also be able to destroy more rows because you will have more Shields available faster.

  • 1st Upgrade – First Shield Upgrade breaks 1 row of tiles along with marble plaques and chains.

  • 2nd Upgrade – It breaks 2 rows of tiles along with marble plaques and chains.

  • 3rd Upgrade – It breaks 3 rows of tiles along with marble plaques and chains.

  • 4th Upgrade – It breaks 4 rows of tiles along with marble plaques and chains.

    BAGS

  • 1st Upgrade – It breaks SOME of one type tile of your choice.

  • 2nd Upgrade – It breaks HALF of one type of tile of your choice.

  • 3rd Upgrade – It breaks MOST of one type tile of your choice.

  • 4th Upgrade – It breaks ALL of one type tile of your choice

    MIXERS

  • 1st Upgrade – It shuffles SOME of the tiles on the game field.

  • 2nd Upgrade – It shuffles HALF of the tiles on the game field.

  • 3rd Upgrade – It shuffles MOST of the tiles on the game field.

  • 4th Upgrade – It shuffles ALL of the tiles on the game field.
