The end of the month has just come and gone, so that only means one thing – a new Clash Royale update.

Here’s our guide to what’s been added and what’s been changed – and what it means for you, the player.

Party on

As you can see from the image above there’s now a party button available to prod before you head into battles.

This is a replacement for the 2vs2 button, and offers – as you might expect from the name – a social experience.

It allows you to play a variety of the game’s modes either on your own (so maybe not so social…) or with friends. Offering constantly rotating game modes it changes what you’ll be playing – and how – every 48 hours.

What’s more is that playing a battle via the Party option can end up getting you Crowns, Victory Gold, and Chests – with no risk that you’ll lose any trophies.

It’s worth noting that the 2vs2 mode has not been removed though, so don’t worry on that score.

Matchmaking changes

Despite not being removed, 2vs2 matchmaking is still changing. Any games you play via the party button will now use matchmaking depending on your card and King levels.

So look at the Party option as a good place to try out and experiment with new decks.

Triple Draft mode added

Other than the addition of the party button is a brand new mode, Triple Draft – available in Friendly Battles.

It’s basically the same as the Draft you know and love, but gives you more control over strategy when it comes to building your deck.

This is because you now get to choose all 8 cards you can use in battles, and you can choose from 3 cards. You can also see which 3 cards your opponents choose from.

Free emote

A more superficial addition is that you’ll get a free Emote if you sign up for Supercell ID.

If you’re already signed up you’ll find it in your emote collection once you’ve updated to the latest version of the game.

Oh and the Emote Deck is now renamed to Personalize. No, we don’t know why.

Final countdown

Another less vital change is that at the end of a game the countdown text and timer are now transparent. Which is nice.

Clan Leader Rotation

Slightly more significant is that inactive Clan Leaders will now have their position taken over by the longest serving Co-leader.

35 days of inactivity and you’re demoted – but you’re given two warnings before you’re given the boot.

If there’s no Co-leader in place to take over the longest serving Elder becomes top dog.

No more draws

There won’t be any more draws in Clash Royale – apart from in the 1vs1 Ladder mode – as tiebreakers are being introduced to all other modes.

Basically at the end of a match, the player with the lowest single Tower Hitpoints score will lose. Simple eh?

You’re a star

Bomber Star Level 2 and Cannon Star Level 3 are now available.

Next season

If you love Halloween you’ll be happy to hear that Clash Royale’s celebration of the holiday is arriving on October the 7th.

Called Shocktober it’ll add yet more to the game and include a new card, arena, and possibly much more.
