Clash of Clans just received its biggest update in some time, which introduces a bunch of new buildings, troops, defences, and more right now on iOS and Android.

Let’s take a look at each new item individually, to help break down all of the new information in digestible nuggets.

Builder Hall 9:

To access the bulk of the new content, you’ll need to upgrade to Builder Hall 9, the new top tier for the building. Do so, and you’ll get access to the new Lava Launcher, O.T.T.O Hut, and more. Here’s the full list from the official forum post:

1x NEW: Lava Launcher

1x NEW: O.T.T.O Hut

20x Walls

1x Firecrackers

1x Spring Trap

1x Mega Mine

Hog Glider:

The Hog Glider is the new troop that will ruin everyone’s day, and replaces the Hog Rider who never actually made the transition to the new land for some reason.

This new troop battles from the air, and heads straight for defensive structures. He’ll stun the structure upon impact, then drop to the ground and become a good old fashioned Hog Rider.

Here’s the full stats:

Favorite target: Defenses

Damage type: Single target

Targets: Ground

Units per camp: 2

Movement speed: 24

Lava Launcher:

The Lava Launcher is a brand new defensive building that will chuck hot steaming lava at your enemies, melting them into a little pool of, well, lava.

On impact, the lava will also create a little crater that will continue to damage any units that come into contact. It’s a pretty great defensive idea that we can’t wait to put to the test.

Here are the stats in full:

Build Time: 24h

Range: 10-20 tiles

Damage type: Area splash

Targets: Ground

Favorite Target: Any

O.T.T.O Hut

The O.T.T.O Hut is a charging station for a new builder that will help you grow and maintain your village. He’s O.T.T.O, and – that’s right – he’s a robot.

You’ll need to upgrade the O.T.T.O Hut to level five before you can gain access to the builder bot, but you certainly won’t regret it.

Research Potion:

The Research Potion is a brand new magical item that speeds up Lab Research times by 10x for a whole hour when used.

Operation Blue Skies:

Operation Blue Skies is a total rework of the Legend League, and one that’s been highly anticipated ahead of its release this month.

The name comes from the infamous “stuck in the clouds” screen that appears for high level players when they attempt to matchmake with an opponent.

At high levels of the Trophy Ladder, it becomes difficult to find a player to attack given the many constraints, including a defensive shield, online players, and just generally there being less players at that level.

So, to tackle this problem, Supercell has totally overhauled the attack menu for players that have reached 5,000 trophies. You’ll have to opt into the new Legend League matchmaking structure to participate.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll get a fixed number of attacks and defences to make each day, and that’s currently set at eight. You’ll gain 40 Trophies for each successful attacks but won’t lose any if you fail.

If you don’t spend all eight of your attacks in a day, you’ll lose those attacks as the entire count resets the next day. Each day is also now known as a League Day.

Legend League seasons will still last a month, and your Trophy count will reset back to 5,000 at the beginning of a new season.

As for defending, you can now select a defensive layout from the Legend League window itself, and this can differ from the layout of your village in the real world.

You can also set your Clan Castle troops from this page too, and you don’t need to refill them after each attack. They’ll simply remain at the same number until you change it again.

Finally, shields have also changed. Rather than simply preventing attacking for a limited time, they’ll now serve as a pause button during League Days that you’re unable to play on.

You can’t get attacked, which means you won’t lose Trophies, but you also can’t attack while you have a shield. So you can’t gain any either.

There’s a lot going on in this update, so we’d recommend checking out the full forum post for a breakdown of everything.

The Rest:

Here’s the rest of the new stuff in the latest update wrapped up real quick:

  • You can now level up all units to level 18, providing them with a statistical boost.
  • Prices in the League Shop have been adjusted: Training Potions will now be 10 League Medals, Research Potions 20, and Builder Potions 30.
  • Magic Hammers now have a week long cooldown upon use, and you can no longer purchase a second until that cooldown has ended.
