City Takeover is a hypercasual take on the RTS. It’s all about marshalling your troops, capturing towers and turning the tide of battle against your colorful foes. And there are teddy bears in it as well, which is pretty awesome. This one’s a bit more complex than Voodoo’s standard fare, so we thought it was a good idea to share with you some hints, tips and cheats that we’ve discovered during our time with the game.

Whether you’ve just started invading other people’s homes or you’ve been doing it for a while now, we reckon there’s going to be something here that’s going to take your home invasion to the next level. In the game, that is – we really can’t stress this enough: don’t invade people’s homes in the real world.

Go for grey

At the start of a level you should try and capture any grey towers that are close to your base. This will let you build up an army quicker than trying to take down an enemy straight away. Once you’ve turned a grey tower blue, you can use it to attack others in greater force than you would have originally been able to.

Look for the biggest threat

The biggest threat is usually the biggest tower. Attacking it with a well planned strategy will usually get your opponent focused on defending it, leaving you free to take down smaller towers and keep them on the back foot. Make sure you’re strong enough before you attack though, or it could backfire.

Support your towers

Use your towers to protect each other by creating a network. Sometimes towers will be invulnerable behind screens, so use this to your advantage to keep feeding other, more vulnerable towers warriors. If a tower is under attack, support it by sending more troops or attacking the tower that’s after it. Always keep an eye which towers need help.

Always freeze

When you’re given the opportunity to freeze your opponents by watching a video you should always take it. It’s a great way to essentially skip a level, and the option usually only pops up on the most challenging levels – we imagine there’s a reason for that. If you can freeze, you definitely should.

Counter attack

When a tower starts attacking it’s always a good idea to send some men out against it. This takes the battle to the map and if you’re supporting your tower you can turn the battle in your favor. This goes doubly for triangle towers, because they do more damage to attackers as well as buildings.
