Can you get Gold Seeds in Private Servers in Grow a Garden 2? This interesting query caught my attention, so I put it to the test and finally have some results to share with you! So, let’s get right into it as I explain how the Midas Event mechanic works, and whether you’re better off staying public or private.

Can You Get Gold Seeds in Private Servers in Grow a Garden 2?

In short, yes, you can get gold seeds in private servers, but not at the same frequency.

To make things fair, the Midas Event, which allows gold seeds to drop from the sky, scales with the number of players in a server. Fuller servers have a higher chance, and less populated servers will struggle to trigger this already rare event.

Private servers have a lower chance, as they don’t filter in players outside of the host’s availability. For example, the server owner may set the server to friends only or only invite proxy accounts they own to increase the chance of a Midas spawn.

Midas Event

The Midas event typically happens during the night cycle to encourage a little chaos. To pick up the Gold Seeds raining from the sky, you will have to leave your garden unattended, allowing invaders to enter and steal your bountiful crops.

Alternatively, two players might scuffle over the same seed by batting each other around using their shovels. Shovels will push and ragdoll a player, giving the attacker time to try and claim the seed for themself. Each seed requires holding down the E key for a few seconds to collect.

What Are Gold Seeds?

Gold Seeds are an RNG-style seed, which guarantees the crop grown will be Golden, giving the host plant a significantly higher chance to apply the Gold mutation to base fruits.

Gold mutated fruits have a value increase of 10x, meaning a crop worth 10$ would sell for 100$ if Golden.

Of course, a golden plant doesn’t ALWAYS apply the golden mutation, as this would be a little bit too overpowered. However, with a very striking yellow repaint, having a golden crop of any kind is a testament to your wealth.

When planting a golden seed, it will grow into any crop from the Seed Shop list, with higher rarity crops having a slimmer chance than more frequently restocked plants. For example, you’re more likely to get a golden Apple Tree than a golden Green Bean.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the other mutations?

For the release of Grow a Garden 2, the other Mutations available include:

  • Base Mutations:
    • Gold: 10x value
    • Rainbow: 30x Value
  • Weathering Mutations:
    • Electric: 25x
    • Frozen: 14x
    • Starstruck: 50x
    • Bloodlit: 60x

What about Rainbow Seeds?

Rainbow, as a base mutation, is exceptionally rarer than Gold, with a much higher value multiplier of 30x. Similarly to the Midas event, rainbow seeds drop during the Rainbow Moon event, a nighttime exclusive and rarer than the Midas. When planting these seeds, they’ll guarantee a rainbow crop, which has a higher chance of growing Rainbow base fruits.
