Use these tips & tricks to learn gameplay hints and advice for creating your own customized layouts in Cafe Mahjongg.

GENERAL

The object of Cafe Mahjongg is to remove all of the tiles from the game table as quickly as possible, in order to “solve” the puzzle and pass the level.

When you click on a tile, it will automatically move to an available cell in the holding area at the top of the game screen. Click on a matching tile to remove them both tiles from the puzzle, and continue to make matches until the board is clear of all tiles.

CUSTOMIZATION

House Blend mode is the story mode of the game, where you play to earn coffees and learn interesting facts and trivia about the world’s most popular beverage from Cafe Mahjongg’s resident barista, Katie, along the way. This mode contains five different tile sets that can be changed at any time during game play, simply by clicking the Menu button.

Espresso mode is free play mode, and includes many more customization options to make each experience in playing unique! Click on My Layouts, and then the Create button on an empty table to experiment with the following options:

  • Import your own personal photos to use as your backgrounds
  • Create your own puzzle layouts and add to the more than 120 layouts the game offers
  • Create your own unique backgrounds with in-game assets (7 different tables and 37 different table items that can be placed to your liking)
  • Five different tile sets that can be changed at any time during game play by simply clicking the Menu button
  • BONUSES

Bonus Tiles – Each tile set includes 2 sets of Bonus tiles that can be matched 4 ways, even though each of the 4 tiles is different. Bonus tiles can be identified by their background color, except for when playing the Traditional tile set. Bonus tiles are as follows:

  • Coffee – Flavor (Sugar, Cinnamon, Syrup and Cream) and Pastry (Eclair, Cinnamon Roll, Scone and Muffin)
  • Traditional – Season and Flower
  • Playing Card – Jacks and Aces
  • Christmas – Floral and Snowflakes
  • Kids – Birthday Cakes and Ice Cream Sundaes
  • Mocha Match Bonus – Make matches to fill the Mocha Match Meter in the upper left hand corner of the game screen, and earn an extra 1500 points! Tips for filling the meter:

    1) Make matches as quickly as you can. The faster you are, the more points you will earn.

    2) Match successive tiles of the same suit.

    3) Match identical successive tiles.

Easter Eggs – There are a few audio Easter Eggs that can be heard by clicking in certain places within the game. They can be found within the navigation screen that appears at the beginning of the game, and after each coffee is won.

Click on the clock and the tip jar after Katie Has finished speaking. If you click more than once, you will hear a different comment.

Also, if you go to the Main Menu and click Options > Credits, then click on Katie’s name, you will hear another audio Easter Egg.

    GAMEPLAY HINTS

Tiles cannot be selected if there is a tile directly above it or if there are tiles adjacent on both the left and right sides of it.

The Holding Area can be used to store tiles until you are able to find a match.

If the Holding Area is full, you can still click on tiles and make matches with the open tiles.

If there are no empty cells available in the Holding Area and you are out of match options, you may use the Shuffle button to rearrange the remaining tiles in the puzzle and create a new match. Use the Shuffle function as often as you like, but note that points will be deducted from your score with each Shuffle.

If you change your puzzle layout mid game will automatically reset your puzzle.
