  • When you start up Burn the Rope 3D for the first time, you’ll be shown a small tutorial on how to play the game.
  • When the tutorial is done, you’re allowed to start little fires of your very own.

How to Play

Burn the Rope 3D

  • Objective – The object of Burn the Rope 3D is to burn away the entirety of several puzzles made out of rope. Since your flame dies very quickly if it’s left upside-down, it’s important to keep the fires burning upwards as much as possible. There are other obstacles keeping you from victory as well, including colored ropes that require specifically-colored flames to burn.
  • Main Menu and Options Burn the Rope 3D‘s main menu and options menu are accessible from the title screen. Tap the gear-shaped icon on the log to access the game’s options and adjust music, sound, and save data management. You can also access options and return to the title screen during play by pressing the pause button on the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
  • Switching Between the Level Sets – There are several sets of levels to work through in Burn the Rope 3D. To switch between them, press the arrow icons at the top of the screen.
  • Turn Your Puzzle – Before you set your puzzle ablaze, you should turn it in each direction and study its shape. You can also take note of any bugs or beetles that happen to be living on the ropes, and predict how their presence will impact the puzzle.
  • Light it Up – Once you’re ready to proceed, touch the match icon on the lower right-hand side of the screen and apply the flame anywhere on the puzzle.

Know the Ropes

Burn the Rope 3D

  • Plain Ropes – Plain ropes are beige in color. They can be burned away by flames of any color.
  • Colored Ropes – Colored ropes can only be burned away by flames of a matching color. You change a flame’s color by burning ants.
  • Turn to Live – Your flames are happiest when they’re burning upwards. If they’re on an angle, they’ll burn slowly, and if they’re upside-down, they’ll sputter out entirely. Turn your puzzle around to achieve different angles and keep your fires alive.

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs

Burn the Rope 3D

  • Ants – Most levels have differently-colored ants marching across the ropes. If your flame touches one of these ants, the flame will change its color to match the burned bug. This is the only way to burn colored ropes, though a flame of any shade will burn beige ropes.
  • Firebugs – When a flame touches a firebug, the firebug explodes and scatters flames around it. This is often the only way to burn isolated strands of rope that aren’t connected to the rest of the puzzle.
  • Lightning Bugs – If you burn a lightning bug, its twin will start a new flame of the same color.
  • Beetles – If you don’t burn beetles with a flame of the same color, you won’t receive any points for its destruction. In other words, if you want to 100% a level with a beetle on it, make sure you burn the beetle with a matching flame.
  • Water Bugs – As you might guess, water bugs put out flames when they’re burned. If you don’t have another flame burning, this ends the puzzle immediately.

Conditions for Success

Burn the Rope 3D

  • Bronze – To achieve a bronze ranking on a level, burn away at least 60% of a puzzle.
  • Silver – To achieve a silver ranking on a level, burn away between 61% – 89% of a puzzle.
  • Gold – To achieve a gold ranking on a level, burn away at least 90% of a puzzle.

Tips

Burn the Rope 3D

  • Look Before You Burn – Turn a puzzle around and explore every angle before taking a match to it. Sometimes even a slight change of view can make a puzzle look very different and force you to reconsider your burning strategy.
  • Keep Flames Level When Necessary – Your flames burn slowly if you hold them horizontally, but they won’t die. Keep this in mind when you have to keep numerous flames alive at once.
  • Not Every Flame Needs to Live – Some flames take priority over others, which is important to remember if you’re stuck managing a bunch of them at once. For instance, a plain-colored flame can only burn beige ropes, but colored flames can burn matching ropes, plus beige ropes. Sometimes one flame is all you need.
  • Don’t Give Up on an Old Flame – If a flame seems to sputter and disappear, don’t write it off as dead. Quickly turn the puzzle vertically, if you can. Chances are there’s still some life flickering in there, and the flame should recover quickly.
