General Tips:

  • The campaign of the game features 45 timed levels. Apart from that you can also choose to play casual, which features eight neighborhoods that are untimed with longterm goals.
  • There is one important change compared to prequels when it comes to neighborhood happiness. There is neither a positive nor a negative effect by buildings or amusements on nearby buildings.
  • Building farms and adding stone walls to them requires workers, while star upgrades require farmers.
  • Note that each upgrade to a farm or a house only adds one star to it, while they might increase the amount of hearts differently.
  • You will not get any rent from houses that are currently up for sale, damaged, infested, upgraded, or in any other way improved. Try to repair, improve, or correct any problems with your houses when the rent cycle begins to be more profitable.
  • You can save money or make a profitable sale by purchasing houses with lower or low ball offers. One example: If a cob is up for sale that is not in your possession, you can acquire it by “offering less” when you put up one of your cobs for sale. If you put up even two cobs for sale, you can even purchase this other cob with a low ball offer.
 The Elizabethan Era
  • Lower and low ball offers only work with the same kinds of buildings. If you want to to buy a mansion, it is pointless to put up anything for sale except for mansions. However, if you want to sell one of your own houses, every other lot or house up for sale will affect the offer you will receive. Only sell houses when no other house or lot is up for sale if you want to make as much profit as possible. A good way to assure a profitable offer is to remove other sales by low-balling.
  • There may appear a skull in the worker and farmer tabs at the bottom of the screen. This symbol makes you aware of the fact that one or more of your workers/farmers are ill, and will not be able to work again until you cure them.

Buildings:

  • Upgrading houses/farms or adding stone walls automatically improves the happiness of the neighborhood.
  • Use the house- and farm-tables below to plan ahead when it comes to goals that involve happiness or rent.

  • For each upgrade you have three choices. The choice you make does not have any influence on future income or happiness, but different upgrades require different amounts of materials and workers.

  • In contrast to houses, you can choose between all upgrades of farms, given that they are improved with a stone wall. A five-star crop farm provides your neighborhood with +17 happiness, and a five-star livestock farm adds +21 happiness to your neighborhood.
  • To upgrade your farms you need farmers. However, to build them or to add stone walls requires still workers.
  • Farmers will also harvest on your farms, which will provide you with materials or money. However, harvesting is not available on a regular basis as rent, so you should not count on it.

Services:

  • The windmill allows you to store food longer.
  • The well and the apothecary prevent your citizens to suffer from water shortage or illnesses.
  • When you construct a blacksmith, your workers and farmers will finish every kind of work much quicker.
  • The carpenter allows you to inspect your houses. This will prevent damages in the future.

Buildings:

  • If you construct a workshop the training of workers and farmers becomes cheaper. However, it lowers your neighborhood happiness by 5.
  • The stone mason decreases the neighborhood happiness by 10, but it enables you to add stone walls to farms and houses.
  • The quarry lowers the cost of materials significantly, but it also deducts ten to fifteen points from the neighborhood happiness.
  • The tax office provides you with an additional regular income, depending on your general rent income. It also lowers your neighborhood’s happiness by 20.

Amusements:

  • Amusements do not have any other function than increasing your neighborhood’s happiness. The pub increases happiness by 5 points, the gardenspace by 10 points, the theatre by 15 points, and the abbey by 20 points.
  • You can only build each amusement once per level. Take this into account when you are planning to reach ambitious happiness goals.

Walkthrough:

  • The first three levels only serve as a tutorial, so they are left out of this walkthrough.
  • All of the levels are randomized. This means that a level might look different if you play it twice or even more often, but your basic situation does not change. There will be the same houses and the same amount of empty lots if you replay a level, only the arrangement changes. Be aware of this when you look at the screenshots in this walkthrough for help. It might look different, but basically it is exactly the same level.
