BugBits – Game Introduction

Welcome to the Bugbits walkthrough and strategy guide on Gamezebo. BugBits is real-time strategy game created by Alder Games revolving around the insect world and the need to gather nectar to stay alive. This walkthrough includes tips and tricks, helpful hints, and a strategy guide on how to complete BugBits.

Note from developer: BugBits has a lot of tactical elements and possibities and each level can be solved in a different way. Try your own tactics before reading.

Mission 1 – The Hard Working Ants

The first mission is basically a tutorial, where you can learn controls and main elements of the game.

BugBits

This is gathering mission. Your goal is to reach 60 nectar points. Nectar drops are continuously appearing on daisies and also drop down after a while.

A nectar drop (or pollen) worths 3 nectar points, so you have to collect 20 drops.

Game controls:

Select a bug by clicking on its icon on the left side
– Click on one of the appearing arrows to choose a path for the selected bug
– Dispatched bugs will keep moving on their paths and they automatically interact with other bugs
– Most of the units cost you nectar points (Your current nectar points are shown on the top left corner)

Starting units:

At the beginning you have 3 kind of bugs (later you’ll have much more):

BugBits

Ant

Use ants to gather dropped down nectars. Dispatch them on paths located near flowers.

General tips:
– Ants are not for combat, but they’re not totally harmless.
– They can distract and hold back the enemy.
– Ants can be dispatched for free, so send them out continuously.

BugBits

Bee

Bees can gather nectar from flowers directly. It can be more effective than collecting with Ants, but a Bee costs you 3 nectar points.

General tips:
– If there’s a lot of bees in the air, no nectar will drop down for the Ants.
– A Bee can’t attack enemies directly, but has a chance to do a powerful suicide attack before its death.

BugBits

Little Beetle

Use Little Beetles to counter light enemy attacks, kill enemy Ants and attack the enemy hive.

General tip:
– Try to send more Little Beetles on the same path to reach the enemy hive!

Mission strategy:

– Dispatch 3-4 Ants to gather pollens!
– You can also create a few Bees to check out how they’re working.
– Don’t waste your resources! Send out Little Beetles only to counter enemy attacks.
– Don’t let the enemy reach your hive!

Choosing Mission

After you’ve completed, you can choose from two missions. Choose to play the rescue mission first. If you rescue the MilitAnt, it would be useful on the other level.

Mission 2 – Rescue: MilitAnt

BugBits

This is a rescue mission, which means:

– Your task is to reach the “captured” unit.
– The enemy units are not attacking, but guarding.
– There are no flowers, resources can be easily depleted.
– There’s a time limit.

Mission strategy:

– Send Little Beetles continuously on the center path.
– Dispatch Ants on the side path which has more nectar and less enemy Ants.
– If there are some nectars on the center path also send an Ant after the Little Beetles.
– Do not create Bees!

Rescued unit:

BugBits

MilitAnt

Like a regular Ant, it’s for nectar gathering. It has better combat skills, but it’s not free and mostly it doesn’t worth its price.

General tip:
– If you need a lot of Ants quickly send regular and Military Ants by turns.

Mission 3 – New paths!

BugBits

This is a battle mission. Send Little Beetles into the enemy hive to destroy it!

General tip:
– You get essence points for killing intruders and achieving medals. Essence points are collected through the game and can be used to unlock powerful hero bugs.

Mission strategy:

– Dispatch several Ants and Bees to establish your resource income.
– Use Little Beetles to counter enemy attacks.
– Start Little Beetles on one of the center paths (because these paths are shorter).
– Try to send more Beetles on the same path!

Mission 4 – Rescue: Stink Bug

Mission strategy:

– Dispatch Ants and Militants on the bottom paths.
– Send Little Beetles and Militants on the top path which has less guards.

Note:

At path forks the Ants choose the direction where the more nectar is. Battle units go against hostiles.

Rescued unit:

BugBits

Stink Bug

Stink Bug is a cheap, but really useful tactical unit. It’s weak, but fast and have a spit attack.

General tips:
– Stink Bugs can attack from behind Beetles effectively.
– More Stink Bugs can attack the same enemy simultaneously. Dispatch them in groups!
– Stink bugs can’t be poisoned.

Mission 5 – Something stinks

Mission strategy:

– Dispatch Ants on the bottom paths first, because the bottom cactus flower is much closer than the top one.
– Create 2-3 bees.
– Use Little Beetles and Stink Bugs to defeat the intruders.
– Try to concentrate your forces to the bottom paths to reach the enemy hive!
– Put Stink Bugs behind Little Beetles.

Mission 6 – Under attack!

BugBits

This is a defense mission. You don’t have to defeat the enemy, but you must survive for a given time.

General tip:
– You can also win by destroying the enemy hive.

Mission strategy:

– Dispatch Ants on top and bottom paths.
– Defeat the Rhino Beetle with Little Beetles and Stink Bugs.
– Create several Bees.
– Counter enemy attacks and try to increase the number of gatherers!
– Try to reach the enemy hive at the center. Once that hole starts smoking the enemy can’t dispatch more units there, so you can have a chance to destroy the hive.

Mission 7 – Rescue: WildBee

Mission strategy:

– First, you have to clear one or two of the less guarded paths to reach some nectar drops. Use mostly Stink Bugs and some Little Beetles.
– Start gathering nectar quickly with Ants and MilitAnts.
– Start dispatching Little Beetles and Stink Bugs on the top path ASAP and keep collecting the resources from the other paths.

Rescued unit:

BugBits

WildBee

Gathers nectar as a regular Bee, but a WildBee can also protect itself and attacks the nearby flying insects. Definitely worths its price.

General tip:
– If you need a lot of Bees quickly send regular and wild Bees by turns.

Mission 8 – Mushrooms

Mission strategy:

– You can collect some nectar drops with Ants at the beginning, but you must also create several WildBees and Bees. Otherwise the enemy Bees will collect all resources from the flowers and no nectar would drop for your Ants.
– Try to have 3-4 WildBees at the same time and replace the defeated ones!
– Use the Beetle/Stink combo or group of Stink Bugs to defeat the enemy.

Mission 9 – Rescue: Rhino Beetle

Mission strategy:

– First, you have to clear the bottom path to reach resources. Use mostly Stink Bugs and some Little Beetles.
– Start gathering nectar quickly with Ants and MilitAnts.
– Start dispatching Little Beetles and Stink Bugs on the top path ASAP and keep collecting the resources from the other path.

Rescued unit:

BugBits

Mission 10 – Undisturbed gathering?

Mission strategy:

– Create Ants, MilitAnts, Bees and WildBees until you have 10-12 gatherers in total. That way you’ll have a massive resource income.
– As it is a gathering mission, only spend nectar for other units if they’re necessary to protect your hive.
– If you lose a lot of gatherers, dispatch more.

Challenge missions

At that point a challenge level unlocks. You can try it, but you’ll be able to set up better times later, when you have almost all bugs rescued.

Mission 11 – Through the Water?

Mission strategy:

– Watch out! Water Beetles are continuously coming through the water! Try to start units against them just before they reach the land.
– Nectar doesn’t drop from water lilies. Use flying gatherers to collect resources! At least 3-4 Bees are needed.
– Stink Bugs combined with Rhino and Little Beetles are effective here.

Mission 12 – Rescue: Water Beetle

Mission strategy:

– First, you have to clear a top path to reach some resources. Use mostly Stink Bugs.
– Start gathering nectar quickly with Ants and MilitAnts.
– Use Rhine Beetles and Stink Bugs to reach the Water Beetle.

Rescued unit:

BugBits

Water Beetle

Weak, but really fast Beetle. Really useful on levels with lakes, but its fastness can also be a great advantage on ground.

General tip:
– Use it to infiltrate the enemy hive.

Mission 13 – Barren Land

Mission strategy:

– Defeat the Wasp with some WildBees.
– Gather nectar from the bottom paths with Ants and MilitAnts.
– Have 3-4 WildBees continuously in the air.
– Water Beetles and Stink Bugs are great for quick attacks.

Mission strategy:

– Clear the bottom path first to get more nectar, then attack the guards on the top area!
– Use the usual Beetle/Stink Bug combo.
– Try to set off the BigBangBug with an Ant or other cheap/fast unit.

Rescued unit:

BugBits

Wasp

Great against any kind of fying insects.

General tips:
– Create Wasp to quickly defeat BomberBees, enemy Wasps or WildBees.

– Some Wasps can be useful to eliminate the enemy WildBees.
– After you have at least 5-6 Bees, try to attack the hive on the top path with a Rhino Beetle. (Support with Stink Bugs!)
– Dispatch Water Beetles continuously after the Beetle. That way the enemy cave can’t stop smoking.

Rescued unit:

BugBits
