Many brawlers out there have been wondering where is Gene and what will Gene’s attacks be? These questions are understandable as there was an update at the end of January but no new character to play as. So let’s take time now to outline how to get Gene, and better yet, how to use him.

How Do I Get Gene?

As you may or may not have been aware, but Genes release was delayed due to issues with his super. This meant many individuals who were saving up for the lunar offer were left disappointed as the offer expired before Gene’s release. But fear not, there are still other ways to get your hands on Gene.

One way to get Gene is to purchase the Big or Mega Box inside the shop. If you are unaware, the Mega Box will be your better choice out of the two, but that will set you back 80 gems. There are certain offers that appear which offer Mega boxes at a discount rate, like the level 15 pack which also includes 170 gems for $5.

If you have done your research, then you’ll know that getting a Mythic Brawler out of a Mega Box has a 0.24% chance. This will increase depending on how many other brawlers you have gotten from a box. The more brawlers you have, the higher the chance you’ll have of getting Gene.

Remember, Gene is a Mythic Brawler which is the second rarest in the game behind legendary. So you will need a lot of luck and persistence to get him, it might be worth your time waiting around for just the right offer.

What are Gene’s moves?

Gene’s moves involve a combination of accuracy and great positioning. He is one of the more difficult brawlers to use, but get it right and he can be one of the most deadly.

Gene’s basic attack will launch a solid ball of magical smoke, if the smoke ball fails to contacts someone, it will split into smaller magic smoke balls that shoot off in a cone formation. Gene’s super is a game changer, it grabs and brings an enemy towards you. Which is best suited for the Gem Grab game mode, as you can grab a player who is running away with the most gems.

How to use Gene

I think it’s important to mention that Gene should be treated like Colt but also slightly different. So like many other characters, he does the most damage at close range, but so does everyone else. So it’s an advantage to you to keep enemies out of range. Gene’s attack has a lot of range, plus it splits at the end to guarantee some damage to your enemy.

If you keep your enemies at the distance just before or after your normal shot splits, then you will deal significant damage. You can’t ever sit still, you need to always be moving slightly closer or further away from the enemy to ensure you don’t fall into their range.

Gene’s super is fantastic for any game mode with a team. He can grab an enemy and pull them right to your feet, which allow your teammates to annihilate whoever gets grabbed. His super can also be used to grab fleeing enemies in the Showdown mode, you should aim to use it after your opponent has shot, so when you pull them closer they can’t shoot three times at your face.

It’s fair to say a lot of thought has gone into this character before they have added it into the general population. As with any new character, there is always a period from where the character is added to when people are comfortable fighting against it. His moves aren’t too unpredictable, but his normal attack has a surprising amount of range.
