We’ve all had the dream where we are a giant snake and we engulf an entire city. Okay, maybe that’s just me, but in Boas.io Snake vs City, my dream becomes a reality. Anyway, that’s enough about my dreams, time to slither on with the guide.

Snake vs City

The aim of the game is simple, take control of a tiny little snake with one dream, to become as large as you can. There is one catch, you are not the only snake trying to do so, expect fierce competition for the top spot.

How do you get to the top spot? Constrict any prop in the scene and it will turn into points. The more points you collect the bigger your snake will become. When I say constrict, I mean for a complete shape around the object you want to consume, and then watch it disappear.

Tips and strategies

  • No need to make a perfect circle. If you haven’t yet tried it, you can make any shape of your choosing to consume an object. All the shape needs to do is be complete, so you need to reach your tail or your body to consume the objects in your path.
  • Start small! This may sound obvious, but you need to start small to get big. There is no point trying to consume a car or fountain if you are not big enough to do so. Learn to size up to your prey, don’t just lunge at the biggest thing you can see.
  • Speeeeeed! When you have just completed a circle or whatever shape of your choosing, you will gain a small speed boost. Use this boost to propel yourself to your next prop for quick consumption. Avoid hitting into any props along the way or you will lose your momentum.
  • Ignore your competitors. In some maps, this is especially hard to do but you shouldn’t pay attention to what your opponent is doing. Focus on creating your own space and consuming your own props. Competing for the same items is a risky business and will normally cost you both time.
  • Learn the maps. In some maps, you will spawn in a terrible location. It might be a good location for the start, like it might have loads of tiny props. But this is not good long term as you cannot consume anything large. If you know the maps, then you can head to dense areas with small and large props.
  • Time to travel. Don’t be stingy with your movement, move across the map to find untouched areas. Other times, you will move across the map and see snakes smaller than you, this means you can steal whatever large items they haven’t consumed yet.
  • Use the force. If you bump into props, your snake can move or push them. This is useful in the house level as you can force your way through walls to different rooms. You can also use this force to push items together and consume them like cars or houses.
