Black Desert Mobile is finally here, offering a miniature version of the hit PC and console MMORPG. It shares many of the same systems as its big brother, but there’s an equal amount of new stuff, which is why we’re running this guide series.

In this guide, we’re going to take a look at taming horses. This is a life skill that lets you grow your pool if mounts, which also double up as extra inventory space. Or, if it’s something else you’re looking for, check out all the rest of our Black Desert Mobile content below:

Black Desert Mobile – Horse Taming Explained

How to Tame a Horse

Before you even think about taming a horse, you’re going to need the appropriate equipment. There are two things you’ll need in particular:

  • Horse Taming Rope
  • Raw Sugar

You should be able to purchase both items from the nearest town, so head there and grab them before we begin. Got them? Good – let’s move on.

Now, you need to find a location with horses. Thankfully, most of the open world areas feature spots where horses can be tamed so just take a look at your mini-map at the top left of the screen. You might need to hit the zoom button on the bottom right of the map to get a good look at your surroundings.

Now, you should see several icons that depict a horse and horseshoe. These are the locations you need to go to to tame a horse. Visit the nearest one.

You should spot a wild horse soon enough. Walk over to it slowly – and we mean slowly, as the horse can easily spook – and you should eventually see two icons: Feed Sugar and Tame Horse.

If you immediately hit Tame Horse, you’ll have a 50% chance of success, which, quite frankly, isn’t good enough. However, you can increase the chances of success by 10% per sugar cube you feed to the horse, up to a maximum of 90%. So feed the horse four sugar cubes and then hit Tame Horse.

Beneath the horse, you should see your chances of success. It will begin as 50 / 90% and end at 90 / 90% once you’ve fed the horse four sugar cubes.

Back to taming the horse. Once you’ve hit the button, you’ll trigger a mini-game in which you have to ensure a balance slider remains in the green zone three different times. Perform this successfully and you’ve got yourself a new horse.
