One of the best things about Archero is having a little companion to follow you around and chip in with the damage. But with that being said many of us are asking what the best pets are and can I make the best pets better?

How Do I Get a Pet?

There are multiple ways to get a pet, all of which require a pinch of luck.
The first way to get a pet is to get lucky from the chest. There are two chests that can be opened using either key, which you get from completing a certain number of levels. Or you can use your gems, we can earn which using several methods.

Another way to get your hands on a pet is to encounter the Mystery Vendor. This Vendor appears after you get into level two, from here you have a chance of buying an item from him. His stock is random, which means the chance of him selling a pet is low. If you are lucky enough to find the vendor, and he is selling pets, then be sure to have a couple of hundred gems to spare just in case.

If you are patient and lucky, then you will find a pet. If you can’t wait,
then you can buy some gems and open chests yourself. All I would say is you can get duplicates of pets, so rushing to get one is pointless as you will get one, eventually.

What are the Pets?

As far as I know, there are four pets for you to get your hands on. Choosing two from this list is a hard thing to do because they are all similar.
With that being said, each pet has its own positives and negatives, so I’ll
leave it up to you to decide.

  • Scythe Mage – A spirit whose attack pierces enemies and deals a great amount of damage to an individual enemy. Its attack does not go through walls, but it damages enemies that get too close from behind.
  • Fairy – Agreed to be the worst of all pets because of how basic it is. The fairy shoots a projectile that does not pierce enemies or travel past walls. Plus, the Fairy can only target one enemy at a time.
  • Bat – A great pet whose attack can pass through walls with no problems. Bat can be effective if the enemies’ lineup, no real downside to mention.
  • Ghost Bomber – Throws a bomb that deals damage to all enemies nearby with the same rate of fire as the fairy. A good spirit, if the enemies are grouped together, plus the attack ignores walls.

Do I upgrade them?

The answer to this question is yes, and a little no. You can run two pets at
one time, so it’s tempting to upgrade two of the same pets. Don’t do this
because the aim of the game is to fuse your pet to the highest rarity.

To fuse an item, you need two copies of the item you want to fuse. Fusing
three silver bats together makes a green one, fusing three blue fairies together makes a purple one.

If you upgrade two bats, then when you fuse them together, all of your
upgrades for one bat will be lost. So use whatever spirits you want, but don’t upgrade two of the same pets!
