So you’ve downloaded Apex Legends Mobile and you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed. We understand. There’s a lot going on in Respawn’s pocket-sized version of its battle royale classic. And that’s why we decided to write this beginners guide to get you up to speed with what’s what super quick.

This is perhaps the most important lesson you can learn when you’re starting your Apex Legends career – stick with your squad. Together you’re much stronger than you are apart, and it’s much more difficult for other squads to get you isolated and take you down. This is a team game, learn to play it like one.
Standing still is a great way to get shot. It might take a while to get used to, but you need to learn to move and shoot at the same time, making yourself a much harder target in the process. The same extends to other parts of the game – even when you’re just moving about, throw in slides and jumps and direction changes. You never know who’s watching, and how powerful their gun is.
While there are a good few Legends to begin with, and more to unlock as you move through the ranks, it’s important you know what your role is in a team. If you’re a healer, make sure you’re healing. Learn your Legend’s skills and use them like you’re supposed to, and find other players doing the same to complement your play style.
There are a lot of rewards waiting for you, spread out across a whole bunch of different menus. But it’s well worth grabbing them all whenever you get the chance. Menus with a red circle next to them usually have something to offer you, so when you go back to the main menu have a look around and pick up everything that you can.
The more you play as a character, the more you’re going to be able to toughen them up. Different perks can really help out, and they make your Legend more useful in difficult situations. To unlock the perks, hit the Details button on the characters page, then choose the Unlock tab. Equip them in the Loadout menu on the left of the screen.
