Angry Birds have been a staple of the mobile gaming world for some time now. Yet, most of us have steered clear of their multiple attempts to get us back to squishing little green pigs. Well, that might be about to change with Rovio’s latest in the Angry Birds series, Angry Birds AR.

We all know the aim of the game as it’s the same across the entire series. You play as birds who are angry at the greedy green piggies. So angry, that you are willing to hurl yourself at the pig’s homes to squish every single last one.

But there is a twist, it’s not as static as sitting there and launch your birds. The AR (Augmented Reality) adds a new dimension to freshen up the stale gameplay. You can spawn the level right in the middle of your living room and then get up and walk around the structure looking for weak points.

I have cared little for AR in the past as it is inconsistent or even annoying to use. However, Angry Birds really brings the best of both worlds in one game, allowing you to get in the pig squashing mood like never before. I could bang on and on about why I love this game, but I reckon I should give you a few top tips instead.

Tips, Cheats and Strategies

• Get up and walk around. Previous Angry Birds games have all been 2D in terms of how you the level is presented to you. Not only are the levels all 3D, but you can walk around the structures to reveal hidden eggs or explosives. So it can pay off to get up and have a wander around before you start your attack.

• Find the weak-spot. Every level has a death star style weak-spot, where a perfect hit sees the entire structure blow up. Most of the time this weak spot is obvious as it is often at the base of the structure. Other times, you will need to be a little more cunning with your attack points to bring the buildings down.

• Timing is everything. When you have birds like Chuck or Bomb, you need to time your launch that will effectively use their ability. Use their attack too late, and it’s as if you never used it at all.

• Look for chain reactions. In some levels, they set the blocks up like dominoes to make it clear to us for what we need to do. Other levels are cleverly disguised dominoes which will topple into each other if you hit the right section first. Be on the lookout for a series of bombs or obstacles that will fall into each other.

• Perfection is difficult. If you are going for three stars, then you better expect several failed attempts. This is because sometimes things can go slightly wrong, which ruins the entire chain reaction. We need persistence, luck and accuracy to three star a level, so good luck!
