Ancient Spirits – Columbus’ Legacy: Game Introduction

General Information

The game can be played in normal mode or expert mode. In normal mode, blue sparkles will appear over areas that should be visited next, and yellow sparkles appear on objects that can be moved in hidden object scenes. On expert mode, there are no blue or yellow sparkles.
The aim in the hidden object scenes is to find all of the objects on the list. Many of the objects on the list are random each time the game is played, although some of the objects will be added to the inventory when they are found and these are always in the same place. The objects on the list will appear as text or images, and occasionally there are instructions where the objects must be found in the correct order.
There is an option in some of the scenes to play with scrolling mode on or off. With scrolling mode on, move the mouse cursor to the edges of the screen to look left or right. This walkthrough is written with the scrolling mode turned off as it is easier to identify the objects in the hidden object scenes.
The excavation brush at the bottom-left corner of the screen will give hints on what needs to be done next on normal locations, or show the location of an object in hidden object scenes. Once the brush has been used, 100 seconds needs to pass before the brush can be used again.
There are various mini-games encountered in the main game, with aims such as removing boards in the correct order or stacking books correctly. The mini-games can be skipped by pressing the Skip button 30 seconds after the mini-game starts.
The task button at the bottom of the screen displays the current objects that need to be found in a scene.
The backpack button at the bottom of the screen shows any objects that have been collected in the game. Objects are usually used on other objects in a location, although occasionally objects can be combined with other objects in the backpack to make a new object.
As you progress through the game, icons will be added at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Dark areas can be illuminated with the flashlight and other world areas (accessed through the portals) can be viewed through the goggles. The diving suit and armor icons are accessed later on in the game.

Walkthrough – Enter the Ghost Village

The game starts on the beach. Find the pith helmet:

Find the remaining objects on the list to complete the hidden object scene. Board the ship and move back to the main deck. Find the tomahawk:

Enter the ship’s hold. After seeing the professor, select the torch at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Click anywhere in the room to display the hidden object list. Find the two candlesticks, the chain and the crowbar:

Use the two candlesticks and the chain on the ladder. Use the crowbar on the hatch at the top of the ladder. Go to the main deck and move back to the ship’s stern. Move back to the main deck and find the book:

The book, diary and compass will be added to the inventory after the hidden object scene has been completed. Select the net to go through the portal. Select the goggles at the bottom-right corner of the screen to talk to the seaman. Find the watch and the key:

Select the backpack button to open the inventory and then give the key to the seaman to receive the hand crank. Go back through the portal to return to the normal world. Go to the upper deck and find all of the objects; there are no objects for the backpack in this hidden object scene. Use the hand crank on the winch:

Use the hand crank to take the key. Return to the ship’s stern and use the key on the door. Enter the ship’s cabin and in the following order, take the rope ladder at the left side of the chair, the quill and the ink, the six notes and the monocle:

Return to the ship’s stern and take the lattice:

Separate the boards by clicking on them in the correct order and dragging them in the directions shown below:

Use the rope ladder on the left side of the ship. Return to the beach and find the matchsticks, shovel, scissors, petrol canister and berries:

Use the petrol canister and the matchsticks with the wood on the beach to reveal a pile of sand. Use the shovel on the pile of sand and take the Indian mask. Enter the ghost village.

Repair the Village

Use the berries on the wasps and they will leave. Walk toward the thatched roof house. Use the shovel on the ground at the left side of the chickens:

Return to the beach and use the scissors on the reeds:

Return to the thatched roof house and use the reeds on the hole. Move right to the village and wait for a few seconds. Return to the thatched roof house to hear a laugh. Return to the village entrance and move right to the tree house. Find all of the objects and then enter the tree house. Enter the portal and wear the goggles. Find the Indian mask:

Go back through the portal and approach the bookcase. Use the scissors on book V:

Take the notepad from the book. Return to the tree house and take the six books and the fungus:

Approach the bookcase and put all of the books on the shelf in the correct order:

Enter the cellar vault and select the portal. Wear the goggles and find the two pieces of flint and the Indian mask:

Go back through the portal to the normal world and use the torch. Combine the two pieces of flint in the inventory and then combine the flint with spark on the tinder. Use the burning tinder on one of the candles in the room. In the following order, find the rope, two spools, winch and hook:

Use the hook on the trapdoor, the windlass on the bottom peg and the spools on the middle and top peg. Use the rope on the trapdoor to complete the pulley system:

Go down the trapdoor to the front room of the thatched house. Select the bag and the board to move them. Find the hammer and the saw:

Use the hammer on the boards on the right door six times to remove all of the boards. Exit the house and move the hay. Find the machete:

Move right twice to the tree house entrance. Use the dull machete on the grindstone to sharpen it. Return to the thatched roof house entrance and use the sharp machete on the undergrowth at the left side of the house. Use the bowsaw on the trunk and move forward to the Indian cemetery. Enter the portal and wear the goggles. Find the Indian mask:

Go through the portal to the normal mode. Move forward to the statue. Place the four Indian masks in the slots and then rotate the masks to the correct positions so that the symbols above are aligned. The solution to this mini-game varies from one game to the next. Return to the ghost village and move the bush near the bottom-right corner of the screen. Find the board and the doorknob:

Go to the front room of the thatched roof house and use the doorknob on the left door. Enter the back room of the thatched roof house and find the two keys and the plank:

Return to the beach and find the two keys and the plank:

Return to the Indian cemetery and approach the destroyed bridge in the water. Complete the mini-game by placing the boards in the correct places on the bridge:

Meet Carlos

Cross the bridge to the mountain hut. Enter the portal and wear the goggles. Move the leaves at the bottom-right corner of the screen and find the two keys:

Go through the portal to the normal world and approach the lock on the door. Put all of the keys in the keyholes and then turn the keys so that all of the rods move to the left:

Enter the mountain hut to see that more tinder is needed. Return to the tree house in the ghost village and find the tinder:

Return to the mountain hut and combine the flints with spark on the tinder in the inventory. Use the burning tinder on one of the candles in the hut. Find the nut:

Combine the nut with the watch in the inventory. Return to the Indian cemetery and enter the cave. Find the tortilla pan:

Enter the portal and wear the goggles to play a mini-game wear the aim is to select the correct color gems in order to make them all disappear. Select the two sets of blue gems, outside green, three sets of purple, both sets of pink and the green. Enter the cave and select the flashlight. Find all of the objects on the list. Return to the main deck of the ship and find the net:

Go to the upper deck and find the dip net handle:

Combine the pole and the net in the inventory to make the dip net. Return to the Indian cemetery and approach the river. Complete the mini-game by setting the lower tiles to the numbers shown below:

Enter the cave and select the flashlight. Use the bat whistle on the bats and they will fly away. Move forward to the cave paintings. Move back to the cave to hear a sob from behind one of the rocks. Return to the beach and enter the hut. In the following order, take the mallet, chisel, lever and eight scraps of paper:

Rotate the pieces of the map and place them correctly to complete the mini-game:

Return to the chamber in the cave and use the chisel, mallet, shovel and mallet on the wall to meet Carlos.

Make the Tortilla

Return to the mountain hut and find the clay jug:

Use the lever and the jar on the water pump and then select the water pump to fill it with water. Exit the mountain hut and use the jar on the vegetable garden to play a mini-game where the aim is to connect all of the trenches so that the water can flow to each plant:

Return to the cellar vault in the thatched roof house and find the potatoes and the oil:

Exit the house and enter the portal. Wear the goggles and find the salt shaker and the eggs:

Use the salt shaker on the pile of salt above the hole. Go through the portal to return to the normal world. Return to the mountain hut. Use the jar on the water pump and select the lever. Go outside and use the jar with water on the vegetable patch to take the onions and peppers. Return to the ship’s galley and find the knife, dish, goblet and agitator:

Return to the main deck and approach the cooking area to see that driftwood is needed. Return to the beach and use the bowsaw on the driftwood to take it. Return to the cooking area on the ship and select the recipe at the top-left corner of the screen to see the instructions. Return to the cooking area and make the tortilla in the following order:

Use the driftwood on the stove.
Use the flint with spark on the driftwood to light it.
Use the pan on the flame.
Use the oil on the pan.
Use the onions on the cutting board.
Use the knife on the onions.
Use the potatoes on the cutting board.
Use the knife on the potatoes.
Use the peppers on the cutting board.
Use the knife on the peppers.
Use the potatoes, onions and peppers on the pan.
Use the eggs on the cup.
Use the salt on the eggs.
Use the agitator on the eggs.
Use the eggs on the pan.
Use the plate on the pan to take the tortilla.

Return to the cave chamber and select the flashlight. Give the tortilla to Carlos.

Complete the Amulet

Return to the Indian cemetery and find the scrap of paper:

Return to the cave chamber and give the quill, ink and paper to Carlos. Find the differences on the map:

Return to the cave entrance and use the machete on the bushes above the parrot at the left side of the cave. Enter the tent camp and find the paddle and the rope:

Use the rope and the paddle on the totem pole. Use the shovel on the hole at the left side of the totem pole to play the maze mini-game. Find the correct path through the maze:

Find the boots and the middle piece of the diving suit:

Enter the beach hut and find the jar and the diving suit helmet:

Combine the diving suit, the helmet and the boots in the inventory and the diving helmet will appear as an icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Return to the beach. Combine the watch with the glass jar in the inventory. Select the diving suit icon and then move to the snake on the rock to go underwater. Find the amulet half:

Return to the tent camp and find the gloves:

Use the gloves on the tendrils and enter the front tent. Find the key:

Use key on the cupboard to open it. Enter the cupboard and find the four leather straps and the leather needle:

Combine the needle with the straps in the inventory to make the leather repair kit. Combine the leather repair kit with the pieces of the pouch in the inventory. Combine the amulet piece with the pouch in the inventory. Return to the tent camp and find the zipper tab:

Use the zipper on the supply tent. Return to the ghost village. Move the plant and find the oil can:

Return to the tent camp and use the oil on the supply tent zipper. Enter the rear tent and find the five keys and the crowbar:

Use the five keys on the five locks:

Use the crowbar on the box at the right side of the room to take the stack of paper. Move the tiles to complete the code:

Return to the Indian cemetery and use the stack of paper on the statue. Enter the cave and turn on the torch. Select the cave chamber and find the ten stones:

Exit the cave and find the armor part:

Return to the back room of the thatched roof house and find the armor part:

Return to the ship’s cabin and find the armor part:

Combine the three armor parts in the inventory and the armor icon will appear at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Return to the ship’s hold and enter the portal. Wear the goggles and find the amulet half:

Go back through the portal to the normal world. Select the armor icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Slide the parts of the amulet together. Put the tiles in the correct positions to complete the game:
