Storyline

Clever and exciting hidden Object game from Gamers Digital which tells the story of John Dillinger, one of the most prolific bank robbers in history. John Dillinger has been given several nicknames in the history books. He was known as the "Modern Day Robin hood" as it was rumored that he gave money that he stole to the poor during the great depression. He was also called, "The jackrabbit" due to his amazing ability to jump over high counters and getting away quickly during several police chases.

The game tells the true story of his life after being released from prison after serving an eight and a half year prison term. He left prison bitter and ready to go right back into robbing banks and living a life of crime. Dillinger and his gang hid out at the "Little Bohemia Lodge" while they robbed many banks and avoided the FBI which were very close to closing in on them.

Ultimately, Dillinger’s down fall was due to his girlfriend who was a former prostitute. A friend of hers trying to avoid deportation went to the FBI and offered them Dillinger’s whereabouts in exchange for helping her avoid deportation. She told them that she would be attending a movie with Dillinger and his girlfriend at the "Biograph theater" where they saw the film,"Manhattan Melodrama" starring Clark Cable. Teams of police officers and FBI agents were waiting outside the theater for him. Dillinger swore he would never go back to prison died right outside the theater in an alley after being shot twice in the chest and once through the head on July 22nd, 1934.

Gameplay

The game follows the true story of Dillinger’s last year and begins with Dillinger and his gang hiding out at the Little Bohemia Lodge. There are multiple banks that Dillinger will rob and with your help he and his gang will case out the banks, rob the bank, keep bank patrons from leaving the bank, crack the safe, and escape.

Each member of the gang offers a different strength to the heist and you must decide at the beginning of each new bank robbery which gang member you will choose to help out on this particular heist. Mouse over their picture to read a description of the benefits each person can offer. Then you will be taken to a hidden object screen and the game is played by searching the screen for objects that are listed to the left of the screen have been randomly placed in the scene.

There are also several bonus items that must be found to help you with the Mini-Games such as the vault search, wanted poster search, searching for the letters of Dillinger’s name, finding 5 keys on each level that will help you crack the safe, and finding cash in the hidden images as a cash bonus.

There are 3 hints offered for each level and you may earn additional hints if you see an item in the list that is colored green. If you do not need a hint and you have a green item in your list, finding it will give you a cash bonus. To use a hint click on the hint button and a random item will highlight for you.

The game is divided into seven bank robberies and multiple scenes at Little Bohemia Lodge and the "Biograph theater". The game can be played in "Gangster Mode" in which all segments of the game are timed, or "Lightweight Mode" which only uses timers for the Mini-Games and the search screens can be played at a relaxed pace.

Clicking the screen multiple times in succession will result in a penalty of minus ten dollars. At the end of each location is a summary of all the money earned due to bonuses and Mini-Games.

GENERAL TIPS

Each bank robbery is divided up into 2 to 5 search screens and 2 Mini-Games. Knowing the breakdown of bonus items will help you earn an optimal score.
There are 5 vaults – Vaults are only found on the first search screen of the banks. Each Vault you click on will earn you an additional 10 seconds during the safe cracking Mini-Game and you will need every second.
The vaults are very well hidden and can be any color or size.
Be sure to keep count and make sure you have all five. Once you complete searching for the items on your list you will not be able to go back and find any vaults you may have missed.
The first and second screen of every bank challenges you to find 7 "Wanted Posters" If you find all 7 between the 2 screens, you will earn an additional $5,000 bonus.
The first and second screen of every bank robbery challenges you to also find all of the 9 letters in Dillinger’s name. Be sure to keep track of how many you found on screen one so you know how many you need to find in screen 2.
The letters you must find to spell Dillinger’s name are very well hidden and can be different colors. Always look in trees and along the sides of buildings and brick walls.
The items listed in green text can vary from game to game. Each time you play the game or save and go back in, you will notice there is a different list of items to find but the items on the screen always stay in the same location.
As soon as you see a pile of coins or bills in a search screen click on it. The game will not tell you about this cash bonus until you happen upon it. There are 3 to 8 piles of cash in various screens throughout the game. Each time you click on one you will earn an additional $50.00.
Keys, Vaults, Letters, wanted posters and items in a scene are always located in the same place on a screen. Only the list varies.
If you are pretty far into a level and have to stop please note if you save it will start you again from the very beginning of where you left off so you will lose any previous progress. You may wish you pause if this is the case. Saving will result in new items on your search list when you open the game again.
The game uses a lot of startling sound effects such as sirens and machine gun fire. Be sure to adjust the sound or you will be frequently startled.

WALKTHROUGH

A. Timer –This is the Timer for "Gangster Mode" and the timed Mini-Games.
B. Green Bonus Item –The green text indicates a bonus item. There is potentially 2 different bonus items per screen.
C. Hint Button – This is the button you use if you need a hint. Finding the item in green text can earn you a hint or a cash bonus.
D. Time Bonus – "Vaults" These are the vaults you must find on the first search screen of each bank. There are 5 total per location.
E. Wanted Posters – There are 7 wanted posters for you to find on the first and second search screens of each location only. Finding all of them will earn you a $5,000 cash bonus.
F. Letters – These are the letters that will spell "Dillinger" You must find all 9 letters within the first 2 search screens of a location. Finding all of them results in a $5,000 cash bonus.

There will be several banks offered and more will unlock as you play. Click on the banks in the order you wish you play. They are listed here in the order you find them in the menu.

The next thing you will choose is which gang members that will accompany you to the robbery. Each person brings a different strength and you must choose the person that will help you the most. The gang members are:

Russell Clark – Speed +1. Increases speed of player during robberies times 1.
Harry Pierpoint – Saavy +1. Increases time allotted in safe cracking game by 10 seconds.
Charles Makley – Speed +2. Increases speed of player during robberies times 2.
Harry Copeland – Saavy +2. Increases time allotted in safe cracking game by 20 seconds.
John Hamilton – Speed +2. Increases speed of player times 2 AND increases time allotted for safe cracking game by 20 seconds.
Edward W. Shouse – Saavy +2. Increases speed of player during robberies times 1 and time allotted for safe cracking game by 10 seconds.
NOTE – John Hamilton has the best strengths to offer. I used him on all levels once he was unlocked and had no problems. "Harry Pierpont was best choice for early levels.

Mini-Game "Block the Egress"

This Mini-Game is played for every bank location once and becomes progressively more difficult.
In this game you must block the bank patrons from leaving the bank during the robbery and alerting the police.
You will see the bank lobby and there will be 3 to 5 areas that the patrons can walk out of. You are to place 2 to 3 robbers in the path of the patrons and pick one that you will guard. As the patrons walk forward they will turn around and go back as soon as they realize a robber is in their path.
You will be responsible for one path AND collecting bonus coins worth $20 dollars each by walking over them. While going after a bonus coin do not let a patron escape. When you get to the more advanced levels there will be more areas to tend and eventually you will find levels in which 2 of your 3 helpers will disappear for the last minute and you will have to handle blocking all 3 exits yourself.
When you see the robbers start to blink, that is your warning they are about to disappear. If 4 bank patrons escape you will lose the game and will have to play again. You can not proceed in the game until you beat the level.
HINT- Place the robber in the lobby by moving him over an available space and clicking continuously where you want him to stand.
HINT – Try to place the robber that you are controlling in the center or at the corner where you have the most control. The center seems to work best as you can grab the gold coins quickly.

This Mini-Game is played by placing the keys in the locks in the correct order. If you make a mistake, all the keys go back to the first position as shown and you must remember the order they were in. Each game is different and if you fail you must play again until you successfully beat the game. Each time it is different so the answer cannot be posted here.
HINT – Try the colors in order so you can remember where you left off. You will not have much time to write things down but if you can that might help. You must find all 5 vaults on the first search screen of each bank in order to earn the maximum time needed to beat this game.
