How it works and what it is
The Palworld craze has definitely calmed a little, but it’s still a very big deal indeed. If it’s passed you by, it’s an action adventure set in an open world populated with creatures called Pals – who you can battle and capture. Yes, it’s a bit (a lot) like Pokémon.
One way to progress in the game is to team up with others though, so it stands to reason that Palworld server hosting is also a very big deal.
But what is it, and how does it work? We’ve teamed up with the fine people at Godlike Host to explain all.
What is it?
So basically Palworld hosting sees you renting a dedicated server – rather than relying on temporary servers or a host.
This then allows you to set up a stable environment in which you can play with your friends in the game.
Having this means you can control the rules and enjoy a lag-free experience.
How do I set it up?
The first step is choosing between a self-hosted server or rented dedicated server, such as from a place Godlike Palworld Hosting. You may prefer the latter as an easier and simpler option.
Both involve installing the dedicated server files via SteamCMD though, and making sure you have a server name and password set up.
Once this is set up you’re ready to go – but we’ll go a little into more detail into both self-hosting and then also renting a dedicated server.
Self-hosting know how
The first step is installing Steam CMD, where you’ll get the Palworld dedicated server files.
Next you have to configure the server files by running PalServer.exe, then edit the PalworldSettings.ini – this will allow you to customise the server name, password, and port.
Then there’s port forwarding, which creates a forwarding rule for your UDP port 8211. Then you launch and connect via PalServer.exe, and use your PC’s local IP address and port to connect to your server.
Renting a dedicated server
First you choose a provider, then select a plan – make sure it meets your requirements, such as processor size and so on.
Then you configure your server, installing the necessary game files. You can also change and customise your server’s settings via an interface, which is much simpler to use if you self-hosted the server.
Then it’s just a case of sharing the IP address and password to your group of friends, and you’re ready to go. Happy hunting!
